My family and I
The Advent and Christmas season is also a very special time for the family. When it's cold and dark outside, the room decorated for Christmas invites you to play, read and tell stories together. In line with this, the next issue of “Zeit(ung) for children and their families” will be published in December. In the 24th edition, the focus is on the family.
A very popular section is always the survey of 100 children on a specific topic. "This time we asked children what they like about their families, what they like to do together and how they help at home," reports project manager Ariane Archner. The young newspaper readers get to know a family that includes five birth children and three foster children. In an interview with one of the biological children, they find out what everyday life is like in such a large family. "Of course there will also be something to take part in," says Ariane Archner happily. "We have designed a family trip where the players can learn a lot about their fellow players and about our district." The "Zeit(ung) für Kinder" presents some traditions and rituals of families. There are suggestions as to how the morning farewell, the joint evening activities or the weekend program could look like. A report on everyday life in a supervised residential group is just as exciting. Together with the parents, the children can also determine their origin. “We have integrated a family tree into the magazine. Parents, grandparents, siblings, uncles and aunts can be entered there,” explains Ariane Archner.
On St. Nicholas Day on December 6th, the “Zeit(ung) für Kinder” will be delivered to all day-care centers, primary schools, after-school care facilities, paediatricians and other children's facilities in the Görlitz district. 10,000 copies make their way to their little readers.
The small editorial team has already started work on the next issue. Nicole Blana from the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Anne Funke from the Network Office for Child Protection and Early Help, Mandy Hergesell from the Görlitz District Youth Welfare Office and Ariane Archner, Ricarda Wild-Noisten and Katarzyna Krzyżanowska from the ENO all want exciting, instructive and entertaining content for Children’s Day 2023 prepare.
