Almost 300 offers at “SCHAU REIN! Open Business Week

From March 13th to 18th, 2023, numerous young people in the district of Görlitz took the opportunity to get a taste of jobs and industries, to get to know new perspectives and to specify their career aspirations. More than 90 companies submitted almost 300 offers to “SCHAU REIN! Open Business Week”. In direct contact with current trainees and students as well as with employees and the management of the companies, schoolchildren were able to obtain valuable information about the requirements and requirements of the respective professional field. And of course there were also many opportunities to try things out in practice.

As the ENO, we have been coordinating “SCHAU REIN!” for the district for eight years.
After the many weeks of planning, organization and preparation, it is of course also exciting for us to see how the offers are implemented locally in the companies. So we were again guests at many companies and took a look at the offers live. On behalf of the colleagues at our #education service point, Annabell reports on her experiences here: At the Diakonie Herrnhut, the students were able to get a taste of everyday work with people with disabilities. They could be shown the apartments, talk to the residents and play games with them. Practical skills were required at the Beckenbergbaude After a brief welcome and introduction to the mountain inn, the tables were set for the guests. The young people learned how to arrange the cutlery for a 3-course meal and how to fold a serviette. Then it went into the kitchen. Cooking according to the recipe and of course with organic products. With the help of the two trained cooks, the students conjured up a small supper together in no time at all. A lot of knowledge about the food and the work in the kitchen was imparted "by the way". SOWAG mbH was again able to welcome many students. At the beginning of their visit they visited a water works, a construction site and a water tower. It was interesting to see how tap water works, how the network system is structured and how much physical and chemical knowledge a water supply technology specialist has to apply. After this round tour in Ebersbach and Neugersdorf on the subject of water supply, the treatment plant dealt with wastewater disposal. Pool by pool, the water is cleaned again through physical and biochemical processes before it is finally allowed to flow back into the Spree. It's amazing what arrives in the system - from technical devices, plastic waste to teeth, everything has already been experienced. Pupils who are interested in the professions of dietician and occupational therapist took a look at Schkola ergodia in Zittau. There they were able to get a clear picture of the training content and possible locations of the professions through an extensive presentation. During the tour, the young visitors were able to see the classrooms, the kitchen, the handicraft room and the therapy room. They were then able to take part in classroom lessons, learning about how the liver works and experiencing a hands-on exercise.

It is always nice to see that schoolchildren take advantage of this offer and get a broad picture of possible career aspirations. It often happened that people asked about an internship directly after the offer. It was also a great experience for me to experience new companies and the diversity of our training landscape up close.
