Last week the fifth Oberlausitz Hydrogen Forum took place in Görlitz. This time we held the WFO in collaboration with the hydrogen network HYPOS as the 21st HYPOS dialogue.

HYPOS is the network for everyone interested in the hydrogen economy and combines the potential of SMEs, large companies and industry as well as universities and research institutions . The ENO has recently become a HYPOS member - as well as a member of the
Lausitz hydrogen network .

The event focused, among other things, on defossilization, i.e. how industry and commerce can use renewable energies and hydrogen to move their processes away from the use of fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum . ENO project manager Heike Schleussner explains that “the key sectors in the Görlitz district in particular were encouraged to use the economic opportunities of the energy transition in order to remain competitive.” emphasized that agriculture plays an important role in land use, hydrogen production as well as biomass and biomass production Waste heat utilization can play a role. Hydrogen production and the resulting new business areas through biomass or biogenic CO2 were also highlighted.
It was shown how hydrogen can be used effectively and successfully in business and agriculture.

Hydrogen as a driving force for regional development

Johannes Wegen emphasized the importance of the partnership with ENO as a new HYPOS member and the growing interest of companies in the Görlitz district. "With 170 members, the HYPOS network is firmly established in Central Germany. Together we are accompanying the market ramp-up of green hydrogen and supporting implementation projects along the entire value chain. We are pleased to have a competent cooperation partner in ENO who is well networked in Lusatia and "with which we can create synergy effects together," said Wegen.

“The fact that all places at our events on the future topic of hydrogen are booked up so quickly is evidence of committed entrepreneurs who want to prepare themselves for the future - which we are of course happy to support on an ongoing basis,” adds Heike Schleussner.
