The tourism cooperation presents the district of Görlitz as an attractive travel destination
The tourism cooperation of the district is actively involved in marketing our tourist offers and attracting tourists.
The representatives of the Touristic Regional Community (TGG) NEISSELAND eV, the TGG Nature Park Zittau Mountains eV and the Europastadt Görlitz Zgorzelec GmbH also like to break new ground.
"In the past we have noticed that the attention of visitors increases when we appear at trade fairs of a different kind," reports Maja Daniel-Rublack. "That's why we decided to be at the Leipzig Book Fair at the end of April." Maja was on site as head of the #tourism service point and business manager of TGG NEISSELAND eV to bring visitors to the fair closer to Upper Lusatia as a travel destination. At the edge of the densely surrounded areas of the book fair, the tourism professionals had an excellent location to be able to engage in intensive conversations with people. Many were already familiar with Upper Lusatia, so that it was possible to talk very specifically about possible holiday locations and adventure offers. "Our offer was very well received because many visitors were planning their summer vacation in April," says Maja happily. “Nobody questioned our presentation of tourism offers at the Book Fair. This shows us that we have chosen the right approach here.”
In order to be able to do justice to the theme of the fair, Maja had brought the hidden picture book of priceless land with her. Many a visitor picked it up and leafed through it. In order to be able to understand and classify the depicted scenes, a visit to Priceless Land would be highly recommended. Perhaps the book could persuade some curious people to do so?
True to the principle "after the fair is before the fair", the next event started just a few days after the book fair. At the Konvent'a in the Löbau Exhibition Park, the tourism cooperation presented leisure activities at home. "We had a lot of materials with us and were able to have many good conversations with the visitors," reports Maja. The topic of cycling and the offers of the narrow-gauge railways in the district were particularly in demand. Cyclists who do cycling tours in other regions and countries reported that Upper Lusatia performs very well in comparison. So we don't have to hide ourselves with our cycle paths and tourist offers. On the contrary. "We were particularly pleased that visitors from the south of the district asked very specifically about offers and bike tours in the north and vice versa."
There is now enough time until the next trade fair. In October we are going to the “Reisen und Caravan” in Erfurt. “After Erfurt we will see how things will continue from 2024. We will reduce our commitment to trade fairs in the future because costs and results are not in line," emphasizes Maja. "Nevertheless, we want to continue to visit the major trade fairs to present our holiday region and get into conversation."
