Just in time for December

Just in time for December

I've already read them. And of course a big thank you to the many people behind the scenes who have created another great product. The new time (ung) for children with the heading sun, moon and stars will soon be available in many places in the district, now here in the digital version.

Right at the beginning, Bernd Lange asks if I sometimes have the feeling that time is passing too quickly. For us adults, this is almost a "must". Ah, summer is over already. Or the typical and currently all-encompassing year-end rally. Everything must be finished. In the time(ing) for children, however, things should not be done in such a professional manner. Rather, all the kids are called upon to make a sundial. How it works? You can find one option in the output. Maybe you have other nice ideas? Then let us be part of it and send us an e-mail. But it should not only be tinkered. Ricarda has included a cool article in the magazine entitled Sundials and moon dials. Information for young and old - including a small experiment guide... try it out!

There is also an interview with Ariadna. 5 years. Has already lived in Spain, now she is happy in Reichenbach/OL She tells something about Spain, the language(s) at the living room table and her hobbies. How would you answer the question "Why do stars twinkle?". What do you like more - the day or the night? I smiled at the answers of the 100 children who were questioned. Also about original explanations of what a summer watch is. Whether day or night - I personally like both - there are always good stories to discover.

When the night sky is clear, there are always moments at home where we just look at the stars. Not only when there are hopefully a lot of shooting stars - but definitely in the summer with a blanket on the deck chair in the garden. If you are interested in stars, signs of the zodiac or phases of the moon, is a trip to an observatory perhaps another idea? I myself was in the Görlitz observatory not too long ago. Such a lecture is always surrounded by its own magic. I finally know where the pole star is 😊. In the booklet we have noted the five observatories on the map for you.

In the "Behind the Scenes" section, you enter the world of small gears. Watchmaker Bernd Seffner took the time to talk to us. Read whether he prefers analogue or digital watches.

"Juha and the donkey" - the two don't tell you anything? Then take a look at page 10 of the issue. Elementary schools were busy with this headline for over a year and diligently drew pictures... The time(ing) for children is rounded off again with a book tip. A children's book. Not just any children's book. It's about our homeland, the Königshain mountains and its good spirit. Also a great gift tip - the stories are bilingual in German and Polish. I'll grab Luna then and disappear into the world "with extensive forests and quarries filled with crystal clear water".

Again, a big thank you to all the good souls behind this project. It turned out really great again.
