A special offer of professional orientation
On November 22, 2022, the regional coordination centers for professional orientation from all over Saxony met to exchange experiences in the priceless lounge in Görlitz. The Education Service Center, as the coordination center for the district of Görlitz, hosted the event. Among other things, she had the new handout for parents and company representatives on career orientation in the district of Görlitz with her. The representatives discussed topics of professional orientation, exchanged ideas and presented their current projects. Possibilities of cooperation between schools and companies within the framework of the SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT network were also discussed. During the event, the participants were given the opportunity to get to know a special safari.
A journey through exciting professional worlds
The Siemens Energy plant in Görlitz has developed an intensive form of professional orientation for all 10th and 11th graders. With the job safari, the company invites young people to take a trip through the plant. You can pursue the questions of what the energy world of tomorrow will look like and what products and solutions we will use to generate electricity in the future. Mentors accompany the students through various departments and present their working world – from A for preparing an offer to Z for machining. The journey is divided into a total of 14 modules. One module can be attended per week. The presentation of the respective work area then lasts 90 minutes. The young participants receive insights into the daily tasks from the mentors and they learn how the training or studies for the respective job profile work. Pupils who have attended at least 10 modules receive a certificate for successful participation in this extracurricular offer. The job safari has already been carried out successfully three times.
The job safari continues
During their visit to the Siemens Energy plant, the participants in the exchange of experiences at the regional coordination centers found out that this innovative offer of professional orientation will also be continued in the coming year. The Education Service Center is planning to extend this offer to other companies as well. Initial talks have already taken place. Preparations are already underway at Siemens for the next safari, which will take place between January and March 2023. Students in grades ten and eleven can already register now. The number of participants is limited.
