Do you live in or around Görlitz, do you still go to school and are working hard towards your graduation, but you have no idea what comes next?

You are not sure in which direction you should go after you graduate and would like to gain experience directly in the company?

It's been far too long since your last internship and your idea of ​​your future job has changed since then?

Then from February you have the chance to take part in one (or more) JobSafari(s) in the district of Görlitz! The format is intended to provide assistance and orientation to young people who are not yet sure about their career choice. Various departments of a company are visited in several modules and also tried out in a very practical way. This happens in small groups, so feel free to take your friends with you.  

Four different safaris are starting this year, which we would like to introduce to you below:

 

Job safari at Siemens energy:

The job safari takes you through the Siemens energy turbine factory in Görlitz and answers questions such as "What will the energy world of tomorrow look like?" or "What products and solutions will we use to generate electricity in the future?". Mentors accompany you through various departments and show you their working world - from A for quotation to Z for machining.

The conditions for participation are as follows:

  • You are a student: in the 10th or 11th grade
  • At least 10 of 14 modules must be attended in order to receive a certificate of participation at the end
  • From the end of February, probably 24.02. or 03.03., one module per week takes place between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m

Researcher safari at CASUS – Center for advanced systems understanding

Are you more of a researcher type and are you interested in all natural sciences? For example, did you know that it rains diamonds on Neptune? Are you wondering what a computer scientist does? How robots can teach themselves to dance? And how can we use artificial intelligence to protect endangered animal species from climate change? If these topics make your heart beat faster, then the researcher safari at CASUS in Görlitz is the right place for you! The center for researching complex systems wants to introduce you to the different professions, tasks and research.  

By the way: You don't necessarily have to study to work at the research institute. Apprenticeships such as media designers are also needed here!

The conditions for participation are as follows:

  • You are a student from grade 10 onwards
  • Both modules must be attended in order to receive a certificate of attendance
  • The dates take place on February 21 and 22 (during the holidays), between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m

IT safari at msg systems ag

Are your strengths in IT? The IT safari at msg in Görlitz gives you an insight into the diverse tasks of an IT consultant. It guides you through the stations "What is testing?", test automation, accessibility testing, sales and daily business in a project. At msg you not only get to know everyday working life, you can also try things out for yourself.  

These are the conditions of participation:

  • Pupils from the 11th grade are allowed to participate
  • It starts on March 14, with one module per week between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m 
  • All five modules must be attended in order to receive a certificate of attendance

Technical company safari in the Zittau companies digades, havlat, Johnson Drehtechnik and SOWAG

Technically and technically it should be for you, but the way to Görlitz is too far and you don't know which job it is exactly? The technical company safari in Zittau gives you the opportunity to visit four different companies in one safari! At digades you can, among other things, experience the complete process from the idea to the finished product as an electrical specialist:in or understand the structure of a circuit, including the use of a soldering iron. You come into contact with metal at havlat. Here you will learn what a cutting machine operator does and test your manual skills on the machine models. You can also be very precise at Johnson Drehtechnik, because the colleagues specializing in “cutting machine operators for turning technology” have to deliver quality to the customer that is accurate to the hundredth. And that happens in the work area of ​​a CNC operator who you also get to know. Last but not least, at SOWAG you will discover what it takes to provide drinking water for us. You can not only have them explain how a waterworks works, you can also visit a sewage treatment plant and maybe even do a microscope yourself!

The conditions of participation are as follows:

  • The project is aimed at students in the 9th to 12th grades
  • There is one meeting after school per week, the safari starts on March 22nd
  • Seven modules are offered, of which at least six must be attended in order to receive a certificate of attendance

If you have time, you can of course register for several. The number of participants is limited, so better be quick.
