The diamond grinder

The diamond grinder

While researching for ZEIT and Heimat , I met Tina Viel in Löbau, who is very committed to looking after young people in the priceless country. Unfortunately, the newspaper's fixed 32 pages only had room for some of her key statements, but not for the entire story. You can now read them here.

The diamond cutter
Tina Viel supports young people in developing their strengths
An article by Ingo Goschütz

“As a young woman, I left my home town of Löbau at the age of 17. I wanted to see the world and have a career. I never thought that home would eventually develop such a pull.”

Tina Viel is full of energy. She is one of those powerful women who can change things and initiate processes with empathy, ambition and perseverance, as well as with social and professional skills. As regional manager of the Nestor Education Institute, she wants to make training and further education as well as the promotion of young people more sustainable. "Mallet doesn't work anymore!" she exaggerates with a smile. “We have to rethink. We need new concepts to be able to win young people over to us. For that we need fresh and new content.”

The certified training provider in the district of Görlitz presents itself as solution-oriented, young and innovative. The offer ranges from coaching to language courses and further training for adults to careers orientation for young people. Nestor works with many companies that are looking for staff or would like to further qualify their own employees. "We will find a suitable solution for every request," affirms the regional manager. "For example, with our new xmentors brand, we recently created a comprehensive range of products to sustainably improve children's school performance."

Tina Viel also acquired the necessary foresight for her work in her young professional years. She worked in Bavaria and Tyrol in the upscale hotel industry. She had made it to management levels. She lived with her husband near Frankfurt am Main. When the next generation was announced in 2012, the desire to return to the old home grew stronger.

After maternity leave, Tina Viel returned to work in 2014. Here, too, she courageously went new ways. I wanted to pass on my knowledge to young people and get involved in social projects.” She was able to live up to this claim at the Nestor Educational Institute. Since then she has been helping people to develop their strengths and make them fit for the future. Together with her team, the regional director wants to give the students confidence and build trust every day. "We have diamonds here that want to be cut individually!" Tina Viel sums up her task clearly. "We can only succeed with openness and a holistic approach." This requires colleagues who share this spirit, who identify with the region and its special features. The district of Görlitz offers the best conditions for successful educational work as well as for a happy life.

The Much family did it. The courageous step away from the metropolitan area into a rural region has paid off. The children grow up close to their grandparents.

The time that Ms. Viel and her husband used to spend in traffic jams in the big city can now be used with the family. “Anyone who has children is happy here. We can climb, hike, swim, cycle. There are farms and riding stables, animal parks and Dresden is not far for shopping.”
