Hello!
Laura Horst reports on her work in the structural development team on the project around the Reichenbacher Hof.
The project around the Reichenbacher Hof in Reichenbach O./L. is part of the overall concept 'area for research, learning and work'. In the future, this area will consist of the 'Reichenbacher Hof', neighboring commercial areas and a factory of the future. For the first sub-project, namely the development of the Reichenbacher Hof, acquired by council decision, into a center for research and digital education and training, the city of Reichenbach has now submitted a project proposal for the 'Coal Regions Investment Act' guideline .
Research institutions, companies and training companies often coexist; there is little cooperation, support and exchange. In Reichenbach this should look different in the future.
But what exactly does this cooperation look like and which industries, subject areas and companies meet there? What is the added value?
A research and development workshop is set up at the 'Reichenbacher Hof' site, in which work and research is carried out on the topics of "plants, water and energy". Project partners include the Fraunhofer Society (Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems IKTS) and Development of Adaptive Systems (EAS) , the Center for Data-Intensive Systems Research Görlitz (CASUS) , the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Zittau University of Applied Sciences /Görlitz (HSZG) on board.
For example, new cultivation technologies are being developed here using robot-based field management for plants. The aim is to generate an improvement in working conditions in agriculture and to protect the natural habitat. At the same time, competitiveness and economic innovation are to be strengthened. This requires robotics, water process technology and new water management technologies. These will later be tested on agricultural land in Oberreichenbach and Mengelsdorf.
But it is also being looked at which new forms of plant use - for example as a material - are possible. The developments in the long-term LaNDER³ project at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, for example for 3D printing with natural fibers, are of great importance for this. At the same time, of course, new approaches to plants as energy suppliers are being developed. With the latter, it will be possible, for example, to heat the neighboring outdoor pool and thus extend the outdoor pool season by 8 weeks.
As a result, companies from the Lausitz mining area will also be involved along the “plant – food – material – energy” value chain. The steel and metal construction, plant construction, electrical engineering/electronics, building equipment and software development sectors are particularly in demand here. Through close cooperation with research and development, the companies in the network can develop new innovative products, business models and start-ups in the future factory. Business partners include AquaTechLausitz (Nebelschütz), Sisy Solutions (Löbau), Digades (Zittau) and Schöpstal Maschinenbau (Markersdorf).
Overall, the cooperation alliance around the Reichenbacher Hof now consists of more than 20 partners from research and business, who will participate in the project and support it.
Initially, 50 jobs will be created in the area of research and development and 25 apprenticeship places in the areas of mechatronics, energy technology and IT at the Reichenbacher Hof. In the further course of the overall project, these numbers will double again. However, the indirect impact on the regional economy has not yet been taken into account.
The starting signal for the development of the Reichenbacher Hof has now been given with the submission of the project proposal by the city. Now it's time to wait...
Best regards!
