The committee met for the first time under the leadership of its new chairman. With the change in the district office from Bernd Lange to Dr. Stephan Meyer now also chairs the RBA . "We all want to support, promote and, of course, experience the transformation of Lusatia into a sustainable and innovative region in the heart of Europe. I see enormous commitment and passion in all areas and from everyone involved. We all care about the region and its future very close to my heart,” explained District Administrator Dr. Meyer.
With a total volume of around 49.5 million euros (federal funds), projects in the areas of public services and tourism and business-related infrastructure are now being funded throughout Lusatia. So far, a total of 45 projects have been confirmed for the Görlitz district, 43 for the district of Bautzen, and five across the districts . Added to this are the nine projects that have now been approved, which we will discuss at this point in the course of the coming year, e.g. T. will present in more detail:

"With today's decisions, we have launched projects that help to make our region attractive for local people and specialists from outside." Dr. Meyer explained the decisions that were made after a slightly different procedure. " The project sponsors were able to present their projects in advance in the RBA for the first time, thereby creating more transparency and citizen participation. We will continue to expand on this path.", says Dr. Meyer.
He emphasized that the first effects of the structural change could already be seen after the official start of the procedure in the summer of last year and that numerous projects that went through the RBA also received funding notifications from the Saxon Development Bank (SAB) and are now being implemented.
“Each of us is aware that we must do everything we can to counteract the need for skilled workers in the region. One pillar is to keep people in the region. It will be at least as important to convince other people of Lusatia and to generate influx. The settlements of the research institutions that promote the transformation process of our homeland will also contribute to this. It is all the more important that we continue to develop good projects with the local people and get them off the ground in order to create good framework conditions for future value creation and jobs," Dr. Meyer concluded.
Would you also like to actively participate in the development of our region and maybe you already have an idea that still needs to be worked out?
