Public citizen participation formats in the priceless country in 2023

The Lausitz Café and the Innovation Challenge Lausitz are the formats that citizens can use in 2023 to get involved, to express their ideas and concerns and to develop constructive solutions.

Both format ideas came about in the ranks of the innovation team at ENO (Development Society Niederschlesische Oberlausitz) mbH, who now want to put their heart and soul into implementing them!

What is the Lausitz Café?

Saskia Brosius, a member of the innovation team, explains the concepts behind the formats: "The Lausitz Café is an entertaining series of events that recurs every two months, in which the main topics of the strategic orientation of the district of Görlitz are discussed with the citizens, i.e. every of the six Lausitz Cafés has a different theme along our main topics (see photo). The events take place in the Unbezahlbar Lounge on Bahnhofstrasse in Görlitz.

What is the Innovation Challenge Lausitz?

“The world is becoming more complex. New challenges arise almost every day in companies, associations and municipalities. New problem-solving skills, creativity and interdisciplinary networking are required. But how does something like this work? By learning, trying and practicing. Together! At the 2.5-day Innovation Challenge in spring and autumn 2023 there is the opportunity to strengthen your own problem-solving skills with great coaches, other creative people and the help of new methods and approaches," reports Saskia.

Two things are needed to carry out the Innovation Challenge: 1. People who want to deal with often complex problems beyond their (professional) everyday life and who like to learn from our experienced coaches the most efficient techniques from the areas of design thinking, want to learn lean startup and rapid prototyping. As well as 2. current and real challenge from the everyday life of the companies, associations and municipalities in the district of Görlitz, which may fall under the table in day-to-day business.  

Interdisciplinary teams, real company challenges and experienced coaches who guide you safely through the methods, that is the Innovation Challenge Lausitz!

In addition to the two new formats, the innovation team will continue to be available for individual inquiries from municipalities, associations, companies and schools. All young people from Lausitz who want to play an active role in structural change and who want to get in touch with those who have stayed, those who have returned and those who have moved to the want to network their age!
