Welcome, Mr President

Hello!
Today I want to talk about several topics. Don't be surprised - the first two come from Lower Lusatia, but we've been in the process of considering all of Lusatia as a unit for a long time.
The Federal President in our beautiful Lausitz
Let's start with a report about a small, intensive meeting with our supreme head of state, the Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. As the press reported, he had relocated his office to Senftenberg . Senftenberg has experienced great structural development over the past 20 years, has a good university and offers, not only thanks to the huge Senftenberg Lake ( beautiful, but of course not quite as beautiful as our Berzi ;-) ), great opportunities for leisure activities for locals and tourists . True to the motto " the prophet in his own country is not heard ", there are - as here - not a few voices who are afraid of the "structural change" decreed "from above". The Federal President, who was still head of the Federal Chancellery in the early 2000s, was able to take the wind out of the sails of these prophecies of doom: at meetings with citizens, at the BTU teachers and students and the press, he emphasized them clearly and without state- supporting pathos that he as a human being, as a citizen - just like everyone else - "clearly recognizes the progress and improvements in the living environment" and that this great development is of course primarily due to the local people.
He also pointed out that the whole of Lusatia faces great opportunities - and we are very fortunate to have been given a lot of funding. Because: our region is not only facing the exit from coal. The whole world has to come to terms with the permanent and irreversible development of digitization - but unlike other regions in Germany and the world, we are receiving strong support. Everyone is called upon to think about how he or she imagines the future of our beautiful district and to actively participate in the design. To say goodbye, we invited the Federal President to visit our priceless country - and he started the conversation that had just ended: " Priceless country ? Why do you call your district that?" - "Because of the priceless good quality of life, the short distances, the beautiful nature..." - Mr. Steinmeier smiled and considered making an appointment to open his "local office" with us.
Church, economy and society in Cottbus-Kahren
We then visited the Dialogue Day of the Evangelical Church in Cottbus on the subject of "Innovations in church, economy and society" in Cottbus-Kahren . Even if the title may sound a bit unwieldy at first, the innovation manager and consultant Christoph Scholze wonderfully to moderate a workshop with around 30 guests on the opportunities, concerns and challenges of structural change in (entire) Lusatia. Journalist Christine Keilholz then led an entertaining, entertaining and profound discussion with pastors, some of whom came over to us from the West or from Berlin. Nobody regrets the step - on the contrary (just like the priceless blog reporter herself) they are tirelessly trying to inspire their friends who are tired of the big city to move to the liveable Lausitz.
No chance for the unk
And even if the economy is booming in Cottbus, living space has long since become scarce and the billions in investments have increased so much that the shortage of skilled workers threatens to become more and more dramatic with all the newly created jobs (a problem - yes! - but a luxury problem!), points Yesterday's voices also in the idyllic community center in the cute, well-groomed village of Kahren. About the fact that the last structural break after the reunification was still firmly in hearts and minds, that at that time many had become unemployed despite promises from politicians, and then never managed to gain a foothold again... Luckily there were young, mainly female dissenting voices ( like also here in Upper Lusatia ) - who see the opportunities as great as they actually are and enjoy the spirit of optimism in the rural area of Lusatia.
Finally, we would like to extend a great invitation to all readers, family and friends Cycling and Hiking to Shared Heritage Let everyone know and take them with you - on

In January 2022, our colleagues from the ENO Tourism Service Agency to start implementing our German-Czech Interreg project "Cycling and hiking to a common heritage" together with Kraj Usti and Kraj Liberec The focus of the project was the natural and cultural heritage in the German-Czech border region, which should be more closely linked and promoted through new cross-border cycle paths. The project area includes the Kraj Ústí (Bohemian Switzerland, Schluckenauer Tip), the Kraj Liberec (surroundings of Česká Lípa), the district of Bautzen (Upper Lusatian mountains) and the district of Görlitz (Upper Lusatian mountains, Zittau Mountains Nature Park).
One of the major goals was to develop and signpost various connecting roads between the Saxon low mountain range route and Czech cycle paths along the surrounding landscape.
The project is now coming to an end and we would like to take the opportunity to present the project results to the public.
