A new contact point for Niesky: “direkt ansprachBar” receives 74,000 euros
A new social meeting place is being built in Niesky, which not only promotes encounters and exchange, but is also intended to strengthen social cohesion.
The “ direkt anrogBar ” project was recently awarded funding of around 74,000 euros by the Ministry of Social Affairs to support this project.
The desire for a place of community and engagement was clearly articulated by citizens during a moderated dialogue by the city administration. This wish was heard by the large district town of Niesky, which, under the leadership of Mayor Kathrin Uhlemann, initiated the redesign of a shop area near Zinzendorfplatz with the help of funding from the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Social Minister Petra Köpping came personally to present the project. She expressed her hope that the “direkt ansprachBar” project will find imitators not only in Niesky, but also in other cities and communities in Saxony. The minister praised the initiative of the city administration and the city councilors, who were sending a clear signal for citizen participation and cohesion by creating this central meeting point.
The “direkt ansprachBar” has already developed into a lively meeting place that is equally valued by various actors in urban society. Despite the renovation work that is still pending, the facility has been used several times a month since it was launched at the beginning of the year.
Funding for the “direkt ansprachBar” project is part of the “ Places of the Community ” funding guideline, which was decided by the cabinet in summer 2021. This initiative aims to promote places of democracy , 62 projects have already been approved as “social places” by the Saxon Development Bank (SAB).
The “direkt ansprachBar” is a promising example of how local communities can be strengthened through targeted support and commitment.
