Bicycle enthusiasts from the Görlitz district, Poland, the Czech Republic and the neighboring Bautzen district took part in the 21st star bike ride in the Görlitz district last Saturday.
The event, which had the motto “Without borders through the border triangle”, took the participants to the picturesque Olbersdorfer See.
Very early in the morning the lake was still calm. Then the ENO Sternradfahrt team came with hard-working supporters from the district office and the destination was already prepared for the cyclists. In the marquee, cyclists were able to find out about the history of the star cycle ride.
Due to the announced heat, the cyclists mostly started from different points in the fresh morning and set off to reach the common goal. The longest routes included the tours from Bad Muskau and Rietschen. Despite some detours necessitated by construction work and local events, the journey went smoothly for most cyclists.
The first group of men's cyclists (from Poland) reached the finish point shortly after opening, at 10 a.m. The women's group followed shortly afterwards.
The route information provided online by the district and ENO was well received by the participants. The Polish and Czech tours, which were very well signposted, received particularly high praise. The many stamp points along the tours made every cyclist happy. The stamp points were often used as a rest stop.
The Funkengarde Friedersdorf enchanted with international costumes and dances - including classic rock'n'roll.

When they arrived at Lake Olbersdorf, the participants were welcomed with a colorful program for the whole family. From music and dance like with the Funkengarde Friedersdorf to impressive artistic and circus performances. A special highlight was the raffle, where numerous prizes were raffled off. The main prize this year was an overnight stay for 5 people in a tree house in the secret world of Turisede.
At the information point, ENO was able to help with all questions from cyclists, helpers and exhibitors. The district administrator Dr. Stephan Meyer talked to the participants after the tour.
“The 2024 star cycle ride was well received after a year’s break and despite the great heat. The cross-border participation was particularly pleasing, which shows how closely the regions are connected to one another,” explained District Administrator Dr. Stephan Meyer, who took the ride from Oderwitz himself.
Various exhibitors presented their offerings on site, including Kraj Liberec , ADFC , KiEZ Querxenland and SachsenEnergie AG , who provided fun and games on site with their SachsenEnergie mobile.
Handing over the baton: District Administrator Dr. Stephan Meyer hands over the baton of the Sternradfahrt to Bernd Lange, former district administrator, and thus reveals the date and destination of the 22nd Sternradfahrt: on May 24th we will go to the Secret World of Turisede on the Einsiedel cultural island in Zentendorf.
A special thank you goes to the numerous partners and supporters of the Sternradfahrt as well as all exhibitors and our caterer from the Nature Park Fleischerei in Mittelherwigsdorf. The ENO would also like to highlight Mr. Hepper vom Seestern , who provided help and advice and without whom the event in Olbersdorf would not have been possible.
The organizers and the ENO team would like to thank all participants and look forward to seeing you again next year.
