Commitment to career guidance
In 2017 we started our mentoring program "Check the Job" for the schoolchildren of the district of Görlitz.
Young people from the age of 12 were given a very individual opportunity to try out individual professions in practice. Mentors with professional experience in more than 60 companies were available to personally mentor the young people. Bärbel Moritz was there from the start. She built up and established the program with passion, lifeblood and great personal commitment. She had already successfully overseen the previous project Impuls Regio. Their experiences and their contacts should also flow into the new career orientation project. Her task was to be the link between the young people and the mentors in the companies. She conducted the initial interviews with the students to find out their interests, strengths and career aspirations. This enabled her to approach the right mentor in a very targeted manner. At the meetings, she always valued an informal atmosphere. The first talks sometimes took place in the ice cream parlor. In the coordination with the companies, she always showed sensitivity, persuasiveness and perseverance in order to convince them of "Check the job". In recent years, Bärbel has accompanied more than 130 young people through the program and won over 80 mentors to participate. She held the network together and acted as a competent contact person for the parents. She was always a good advisor for the young people and was the good soul for the “Check den Job” mentoring program. teenagers.
Bärbel is now in charge of the “Oberland” district office in Ebersbach Neugersdorf. She is the contact person there for concerns, ideas and problems of the citizens. In addition, as a technology ambassador, she is available to people over 60 with advice and action when it comes to questions about smartphones or tablets.
A few years ago, Bärbel told us what she appreciates about life in Priceless Land.
