Trainee speed dating in Weißwasser, Görlitz and Zittau

A ten-minute intensive conversation can open the door to an exciting apprenticeship position in a company in the district of Görlitz.

This basic idea is decisive for the trainee speed dating that our #bildung service point is currently conducting in Weißwasser, Zittau and Görlitz. This intensive form of contact initiation between students and training companies in the district of Görlitz is organized together with the cooperation partners district of Görlitz, IHK Dresden, HWK Dresden, district craftsmen’s association in Görlitz, Bautzen employment agency, job center in the district of Görlitz and with the support of the Sparkasse Oberlausitz Niederschlesien. On April 25, the speed dating took place in the Weißwasser Vocational School Center and in the Christian-Weise Library in Zittau. A total of over 60 discussions were held at both locations. 20 companies were available in Zittau and 16 in Weißwasser. “Interest was particularly high among industrial companies. Very low, however, in the nursing professions," reports Saskia Heublein, head of the #education service point. "Often, however, it is not the number of interviews that counts, but their quality." One or two interviews can be enough to find a suitable candidate for training in your own company. "The representatives of the training companies made very positive comments about the participating students," explains Saskia. “Many came to the speed dating well prepared. They were very interested, asked a lot of questions and some even asked about an internship and a holiday job.”  

Most of the students had registered in advance for a specific interview with a company. Some, however, came spontaneously and put together their conversations on site. “A student from Schleife had six interviews. After that, he left the speed dating very satisfied,” says Saskia happily. Application folders have often already been handed over and follow-up appointments for a visit to the training company have been arranged.  

The trainee speed dating is being held for the third time this year. In the meantime, word of this event is beginning to get around and establish itself among the training companies. On June 10th, graduates of the tenth and twelfth grades have another chance to secure current apprenticeship positions for this year. At the INSIDERTREFF there will again be a last-minute training place exchange at the information point.
