The 25th issue of "ZEIT(ung) für Kinder" has been published
For many people, home means something beautiful. Home is the place where you live, where you are "at home", where you feel comfortable and where you know your way around.
This can be a room, a house or even an entire city. For adults it is often the place where they lived as children. But home is also a feeling: you feel loved and safe there.
The current issue of “ Zeit(ung) for children and their families” is dedicated to the subject of home. It has been available in day-care centers, after-school care facilities, from paediatricians and authorities in the Görlitz district since Children's Day.
The 25th edition takes up a very emotional topic with stories, riddles and painting tasks suitable for children. It is particularly important for children to have a home, safety and security. Many children in the district of Görlitz were born and grew up here. For them, this is also their home. But children from other regions and countries are increasingly coming to us. Can you feel at home here? Can your new place of residence also become a home for you? Exciting questions that provide plenty to talk about when the children leaf through the newspaper with their parents and siblings.
Nine-year-old Julia tells us, for example, that home can change. She has since moved five times. With the support of her family and new friends, she has always managed to feel at home. In the tried and tested way, 100 children were asked what they mean by home. For 30 percent, their home is where they feel at home. Most of them associate this with their place of residence, 42 percent with their own apartment and 14 percent with their own house and garden.
The children also learn from the newspaper that their homeland is constantly changing. Both technical progress and social developments can lead to drastic upheavals. The structural change in Lusatia will also bring changes for the children and their image of home. The young readers are introduced to this topic with riddles, painting tasks and a glimpse into the future.
The “ Zeit(ung) for children and their families” is published by the development company. Representatives of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the district of Görlitz, the Network Office for Child Protection and Early Help, and the ENO are actively involved in the editorial team. The next issue will appear shortly before Christmas on the subject of “friendship”. The preparations have already started.
