Good news for the future of the craft

Anyone who has requested an appointment with a craftsman in the past few months will have noticed that the trade is on the upswing. "I can put you on the waiting list" or even worse: "We'd like to come, but we don't have enough staff at the moment...yes, that's been the case for a long time, but it won't change overnight...".
But well, finally - it changes perspective! Last week, the Dresden Chamber of Crafts published the news that more young people are finally being drawn back into the trades - because 3.3 percent more apprenticeship contracts were signed at the start of the new training year than before. While last year there were 1405 contracts, this year there are already 1451, signed with a craft business in the district of Dresden.
What might be the reason for the small, fine upswing? We asked Ingo Goschütz, the manager of our Unpayableland service point, who is quite familiar with everything to do with crafts in our district. With the slogan "With heart and hand", the Unpayableland image campaign of the district of Görlitz is dedicated to dedicated craftsmen who practice their profession with passion and love .
"In conversations with many trainees in the district of Görlitz , we almost never hear that material values were decisive for their choice of career. The young people are concerned with realizing themselves and using their strengths for the benefit of their training company and society." In addition, Ingo reports, it is important for a growing number of school graduates to be able to create something with their own hands. Being able to see what they have achieved at the end of the day is the greatest motivation for them. "Traditional craftsmanship and modern technology are not mutually exclusive. On the contrary. For the young people starting their careers, both naturally form a unit. Ultimately, however, it is their manual skills and their professional competence that determine whether the product can be manufactured with high quality. Many craftsmen also report that they do their job with love and passion.". And now word seems to have finally gotten around again!
"These figures show a pleasing positive trend," says Manuela Salewski , Deputy General Manager of the Dresden Chamber of Crafts. They proved that the companies rely on training to secure their need for skilled workers. The trade in Germany offers training in 130 professions, in East Saxony around 80 can be learned - from A for optician to Z for two-wheeler mechatronics technician. Most of them are varied and exciting and offer many opportunities to continue to gain qualifications and specialise. By the way: not all places are taken this year. online exchanges of the Dresden Chamber of Crafts offer an overview of vacant apprenticeship positions . Apprenticeship contracts can still be concluded and training courses can be started.
