Should I really write about something like this? 

I asked Steffi, my wife, this question yesterday. And she encouraged me in this matter. My first appointment today was 8:30 a.m. with the location "District Office Görlitz". Strange feelings crept over me. Somehow strange. This "conversation" could be a bit excited and different than in the last 15 years.

Instead of the planned video conference, I paid a surprise visit to my really good friend Thomas Rublack. The good souls of our calendars did a good job. Because Tom didn't know anything. But congratulating him personally on his 40th birthday was a matter close to my heart. Since 2006 I have congratulated him every time in the ENO rooms. Whether still in Bad Muskau, in Niesky, in Reichenbach or in the current walls at Elisabethplatz. We always shook hands amicably and took our time. Nobody can refuse a coffee in honor.  

Well - my inner unrest was unjustified. The smile in Tom's eyes with surprise and the improvised hug with a safe distance worked directly. He is now head of department in the district of Görlitz. There are countless topics in his department with a good 350 employees. His area of ​​responsibility is huge. But he's still Thomas Rublack.

And what should I wish for? 

I stick to the standards. 

Health - without health everything is nothing. Especially in our times with our jobs.  

Serenity - without it only your health suffers :)

Joy in life - only those who smile can bring about changes, I am convinced of that.

Time - time to "get everything under one's hat" - time above all for the family.

Achievements - only always running against windmills, frustrated. Successes are always important.

Luck - you can't plan everything. Always and anytime. Sometimes you need luck too.  

I wish you, dear Tom, great moments in the next year of your life. Stay as you are and we look forward to further shared professional and private experiences. And so that it really doesn't get boring, all ENO employees were given a few small pieces of equipment for the hours as a craftsman at home.  

Oh yes - and the coffee was superb :)
