Do I do it or don't I do it?
That's the question I've been carrying around with me for a long time.
May or can I venture into this topic? It is complex. Theoretically. And partly also already hung with negative flags. It's about structural change. I prefer to say structural development.
The idea is that I try to explain different levels with "my" words. Maybe it works. Maybe not. As usual, I will try to present facts and at the same time give a personal view of them. I won't be able to do that with one or two blog posts. It's supposed to be some kind of series. Gladly also in exchange with all of you. How many parts will the series have? I don't know it. One part per week is the goal at first. And one more thought beforehand: I cannot and will not be able to get involved in totally scientific or highly emotional debates. I would just like to outline the general conditions in which we as a company and as a society can move. You won't miss the latest developments. Jasna will always have her place here on Fridays 😊
Well then: the really big view
First of all, the federal government decided to phase out lignite-based power generation. We cannot ignore this fact. Whether we like it or not. It has currently been decided that the last power plant in Lusatia should be shut down by 2038 at the latest. , I would like to point out the advantages of these glasses. With more than 1,000,000 inhabitants and 236 cities on an area of 12,000 square kilometers, the Lusatia district is huge. From Zittau to Berlin - all our Lausitz. There are always different figures with regard to the economic importance of lignite (power generation) in the room. The most common are as follows: around 8,000 people work at Leag. Around these, a further 16,000 employees can somehow (in)directly be assigned to this branch of industry. The gross value added per employee is much higher in opencast mining and power plants than in many other sectors. The League alone places orders in the region worth more than 1,000,000,000 euros. Without a doubt, one can speak of a very important economic power for the Lusatia region. It was politically determined to phase out electricity generation from lignite. OK. But with such a political decision, there needs to be a balance of some kind. Financial compensation that makes it possible to shape the future. In my opinion, this was not a matter of course and should be accepted as "set". The talks between the prime ministers of the countries concerned to set the necessary framework were certainly not easy. Why? We are undoubtedly aware of the importance of the industry. But does that also apply to other regions of Germany? I don't believe. After all, electricity is always available. Many MPs, perhaps also decision-makers, do not come from an area with lignite (power generation). So why should she be interested in the subject? In all of Germany, only four areas are officially affected by the exit. I really like this card .
The result of the coal commission is decisive for "our" Lusatia. This already met in 2018. After all, 28 voting members then presented a result that formed the basis for all further decisions. And there was a number. 40,000,000,000 euros are to be made available for the process. , there are another 275 pages of reading material and information. However, going into detail about this would go beyond the scope of my little blog. 😊. The final report was available in January 2019. This showed a clear picture. The measures specified therein were described in detail - but also had to be cast in a clear legal framework. The possible perspectives for the districts are also exciting. You will also find good 30 pages of suggestions for this in the final report.
I just got an idea what the second part of the series could be...
