Hello!
Heike Schleussner and her colleague Lars Semrok report on their participation in the digital public dialogue to develop a city-wide mobility concept for Görlitz.
Friday evening. Many are mentally already in the weekend? But not all! A small circle of dedicated Görlitz residents has bought a digital ticket and is embarking on the last round of professional inputs of the working week. Next stop: Traffic concept Görlitz & mobile future - everyone get in, close the doors - let's go!
A topic on which everyone wants to have a say, but hardly anyone can (technically) have a say. Mobility – each of us is constantly taking part in traffic. Day after day, from morning to night, whether on foot, by bike, in a car or on public transport, we are constantly on the move. Who rests, rusts. Therefore, the two are now taking part in the series of events of digital citizen dialogues on topics related to the development of a city-wide mobility concept and sustainable urban development in Görlitz. Remarkable: these dialogues go back to the purely civic commitment of a non-partisan working group consisting of civil society initiatives, associations and individuals.
"The non-partisan working group for a city-wide mobility concept and sustainable urban development invites you to the 2nd digital citizens' dialogue on the subject:
What role can and should public transport play for a traffic turnaround in Görlitz?”
Wow - the invitation sounds dry - but the refreshing opening words by Katrin Treffkorn and moderator Norbert Rost ( Zukunftsstadt.de ) already reveal: It won't be dry today - more of an entertaining journey; an excursion into the urban world of traffic, STARK e speakers are invited as travel companions.
GVB (Görlitzer Verkehrsbetriebe) form the start, who, with youthful, fresh charm and commitment, present a brief outline of the transport companies, their task and the general conditions of public transport in Görlitz. One would like to become a model city, play a leading role in the digitization of traffic and arrive barrier-free with sustainable technologies at the end of the project in the future.
Transfer! The digital ticket is also valid in the tariff zone of Heike Schleussner, project manager of the development company Niederschlesische Oberlausitz (ENO) and co-founder of the Mobility Works GmbH, which then takes over the control in a targeted manner. Buckle up and listen!
Heike explains to the approximately 30 passengers in the zoom wagon how other municipalities are developing sustainable and innovative mobility concepts for the traffic of tomorrow with the participation of the citizens and, above all, WHY they are doing this. In view of the increasingly scarce fossil fuels, an increased need for mobility and in order to make a significant contribution to reducing CO2, many cities and communities are setting out to develop and implement their own mobility concepts tailored to their needs - and all of this with lasting success.
The online format then offers enough (traffic) space to talk to the speakers and like-minded people, exchange constructive ideas, stay mentally mobile and look beyond your own horizon, about the pros and cons of parking space shortages discuss, or about free public transport, or about traffic theses that can be nailed to the digital town hall doors, or, or, or... the main thing is to talk about it. Anyway, there are plenty of ideas.
The first practical approaches for a new city-wide traffic concept and a climate-neutral European city in 2030 are evident before our eyes. Let's develop them further... together.
Outlook: Anyone who is interested in mobility and in exchange about it is cordially invited to take part in the 3rd Citizens' Dialogue. This will take place on February 25, 2022. Theme: "Good walking for young and old in the city of short distances".
Best regards!
Your
Heike & your Lars
