Our innovation workshop
As you, as regular blog readers, know, our Structural Development is concerned with getting citizens, communities, municipalities and mayors excited about the reorganization of our district in the post-coal era.
Therefore, we invite everyone to consider together with us: where is the future journey of the district of Görlitz going? In our opinion, all of you are needed for this. It is important to find ideas together. Of course, always with a view to future viability and feasibility. You can learn how to do that and how to moderate such meetings.
Our project managers Saskia Brosius and Wilhelmine Buscha had the idea that we - all those interested from the ENO - should be trained to be moderators and coaches for such innovation workshops. There are enough topics. So we needed that skill. Saskia, who studied "Creativity and Innovation", examined possible offers from experienced coaches in the team. We found Karl and Johanna . Both offer an ingenious program made for our needs. Said and done.
After weeks of virtual preparation and designing a flip chart poster, the time had come on the last weekend in January: half the ENO was ready to learn how to intensively but playfully promote targeted brainstorming.
In advance, we participants were divided into groups and had to do homework. The four leaders orientated themselves on things that can also be useful for us as a structural development team in our further work. So we were divided into four groups with the topics "health care", "LKGR alumni", "pupils and students" and "municipalities". The main aim was to develop ideas for these target groups during the workshop.
We should interview people and ask about their needs and desires.
What motivates a primary school teacher or a nursing assistant who has been doing their job for twenty years and definitely wants to stay unaffordable country Where do you see room for improvement, what are you happy with, what do you wish for the future? Why don't former district residents come back? What has to happen for them to come back? How can you make life better for schoolchildren and students and inspire them to stay in the region? And what is particularly moving our mayors at the moment?
We compiled the information collected in this way clearly and to the point, then we analyzed it under the guidance of Saskia, Wilhelmine,
Clara and Sven . We loosened up our creative spirit with mental exercises beforehand, we brainstormed, we fitted information into schemes, we evaluated, we sorted things in - and also out. Ultimately, we developed feasible, conceivable, beautiful and forward-looking ideas for our district. Ideas, some of which we carry out into the world and will continue to discuss. And maybe also be able to translate it into reality.
"It was a great experience for me to experience the workshop from the other side as a moderator and coach."
reports Saskia, who has long been familiar with the format - only always as a participant . "The training in advance made me leave my comfort zone. I had to think outside the box and felt as if I had to jump over cliffs on the workshop weekend..." explains the 25-year-old, who is in our structure development team is responsible for innovation . You didn't even notice that she was moderating for the first time in front of a group of almost twenty people, nor did the other colleagues - because everyone was enthusiastic about the charming and calm way with which our new coaches knew how to present complex questions in an easy-to-understand way .
However, the best feedback of the day for our innovation team came from the coaching professionals Karl and Johanna, despite all the encouragement from the other ENO colleagues. And also from our ENO boss Sven Mimus: “You are ready. Let's go!” the three applauded at the end. "And so do we - with great anticipation of everything that awaits us." explains Wilhelmine beaming.
