Today is once again one of the days on which structural development is picking up measurable momentum thanks to new funding decisions. And that in four locations in the Görlitz district! In Kodersdorf , Boxberg , Weißwasser and Krauschwitz, the new funding notices mean that measures that were initiated before the task force began work in spring 2021 can now be implemented.

Kodersdorf will receive funding of 3.3 million euros to convert a former estate into a service center. Part of the building will be used Kodersdorfer Inklusions- und Service gGmbH

Other projects were also awarded funding for millions from the coal phase-out fund. Krauschwitz can look forward to 11.2 million euros, which will flow into the construction of a modern multi-purpose building in the center of the town. This will house a barrier-free citizens' and authorities' center and include space for municipal administration, an archive, a data center, doctor's offices, nursing services and company offices. An event hall with seating for 200, foyer with bistro, sanitary facilities, parking lot and green space in the inner courtyard of the L-shaped building complete the new building. This investment represents a significant step towards the development of the municipality by 2030.

2.24 million euros will flow into the modernization of the Lausitz drinking water network in Weißwasser and Boxberg. This measure aims to improve the water supply in our region and increase the quality of life for the residents. The Saxon Agency for Structural Development explains this large and ongoing project, which is being funded with a total of 185 million euros between 2021 and 2038:

"The drinking water supply infrastructure is a fundamental factor for securing and improving the attractiveness of the economic and living space in Lusatia and must not become a limiting factor for the diversification of the regional economic structure in the Lusatian area. The network system that emerged from the constraints of mining activity is now getting there mining disappears from the district, a new purpose. It forms the starting point for a new, future-oriented drinking water network. In order for the network system to be able to meet the new requirements, it must be modernized and its performance increased in addition to replacing existing supply dependencies on mining At the same time, precautions must also be taken with regard to the groundwater supply conditions that arise after the mining period. The present overall technical concept includes 49 partial measures by the affected Saxon water suppliers of the association, which have joined forces in an ARGE, with an investment volume of approximately 185 million euros. The projects are planned for implementation within a period of 2021 to 2038."
