On Tuesday the “trainee and beginners’ get-together” took place in the UBL lounge in Görlitz. All trainees and lateral entrants (in training) who are on their way to becoming teachers in the Görlitz district were invited.

Mathias Peter shows future teachers perspectives

"About 5 or 6 years ago, the then district administrator, Bernd Lange , invited young trainees who worked in the schools in the Görlitz district to an annual conversation. The aim was to get to know the concerns and topics of the young trainees. This conversation gives It still takes place in the fall when the new school year begins, usually in October." reports Denise Kieschnick , head of the school and sports office in the Görlitz district.

"Last year we decided to expand this offer in the spring. We call it the 'trainee and beginners' get-together,' she explains the new format. The aim of this event is to get young people excited about the district and to show them prospects , so they want to stay here." explains Ms. Kieschnick.

As part of the event, which was now taking place for the second time and was very well received, the young trainees and newcomers were not only able to network, but also talk about their everyday lives and their challenges. For example, it was about support with questions such as finding a daycare place, or about a partner wanting to move to our region and find a suitable job - or simply about organizational matters regarding further teacher training: at the regulars' table, and should be asked.

Information and exchange were very important

In order to provide further answers, not only Ms. Kieschnick, an expert from the district, and Mathias Peter , head of the Bautzen location from the State Office for Schools and Education, as well as his colleague, Ms. Andrich, the coordinator for lateral entrants , were present. The two came to answer technical and service law questions with great expertise. Thomas Rublack, head of the economic department also represented the district and Marko Weber-Schönherr from the Oberlausitzer Kreissportbund eV explained the possibilities of establishing oneself socially through membership in the district's numerous sports clubs. Denise Kieschnick knows that the beautiful Upper Lusatian landscape and a secure job are not everything - for people who are new to our district: "We have noticed that young teachers in particular who do not come from the district often miss a social environment and have difficulty settling in. That's why it's important that they have the opportunity to talk to others in similar situations." - said and done! The fact that the format of the regulars' table was not structured as a "frontal lecture series", but rather had a looser agenda, contributed exactly to the desired networking and getting to know everyone. "After the welcome from Mr. Rublack and Mr. Peter, there was a round of introductions in which each participant introduced themselves. Various subject areas were then discussed in groups - so the exchange came about very well and without any hurdles," says Ms. Kieschnick.

Our service center manager Ingo Goschütz , who the career orientation products in the district and the Unzahlbarland image campaign , as well as our project manager Tina Friebe (for the organization) were also present to support us, so we at ENO are also happy to be at this successful and important event to have contributed. “Very successful,” says Mathias Peter. “We all had a very good conversation and were able to answer many questions, big and small. The cooperation with the district office of the Görlitz district works very well, and a lot of things were properly considered in the basic concept of the event,” he says, convinced after the successful event. “But there is no question that we need many more people interested in the teaching profession.”
