The priceless country on the culinary map
The Slow Food magazine, which appears throughout the German-speaking region, is the magazine for sustainable food production and conscious eating habits full of enjoyment. In the current issue, ten pages are dedicated to the topic: “A pleasure trip through Upper Lusatia”.
On the trip described in the Slow Food magazine we meet, for example, the Restaurant Obermühle , the Beckenbergbaude and, in the neighboring district, the Wibljek Bautzen and, brand new, the L'Auberge Bischofswerda . If you would like to find out more detailed information, you can take a look , buy it and download it - and continue reading here for our spring tips on healthy and regional nutrition.
Rich, seasonal and regional offerings - the market season is starting again
Our region offers so much. The extensive range includes, for example, wild ham from Obercunnersdorf, vegetables from Vierkirchen , sausage from Diehmen , bread from Görlitz, cheese from Pommritz , juices and linseed oil from Oderwitz. "Products made by hand. With heart. From here." - that's the motto of the upcoming first regional market in Eibau at Bio am Kottmar, Hauptstr. 256, 02739 Kottmar, OT Eibau. Those interested can look forward to a diverse range that almost covers the weekly shopping needs: fruit & vegetables, bread, sausage, meat, cheese, eggs and much more. Open after work on Friday, April 26th between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
“Flying Kitchen” for on-site enjoyment
However, good products from Upper Lusatia are not only available for purchase, but also for tasting. André Meyer from Beckenbergbaude conjures up delicious dishes from his “Flying Kitchen”. There is also live music, ice cream and an offer of coffee and cake. The sense of beauty is also not neglected: soap, alpaca wool and textile art round off the offering.
The market was launched by the “Naturmarktfreunde Kottmar” initiative. The members came together after the organic store “bio am kottmar” closed. You want to give customers the opportunity to shop locally and personally - without having to travel long distances. Talk to the producers of your own food. This creates trust and appreciation for good products from home. If the regional market is well received, the initiative would like to repeat it monthly.
