The German Center for Astrophysics (DZA), which was successfully advised by the Structural Change Task Force in the funding application, is inviting you to a very special event on the Görlitz Alstom site next Saturday.
Under the motto “Experience science” there are exciting activities and lectures that will not only, but above all, inspire young people. And "by the way" you can also celebrate the anniversary "175 years of Görlitz wagon construction", which Alstom is celebrating next Saturday, August 17th. invites.
Rocket launch and family-friendly program
From 10 a.m. the doors to the DZA , accompanied by a "spectacular" rocket show. There is a hands-on program for younger visitors: children and young people can build their own spectrographs and water rockets. All you need is a 1.5 liter PET bottle that you need to bring from home.
In order to explore the galaxy - and possible new career dreams in the emerging DZA - you can go on a virtual excursion into space with virtual reality glasses. Painting, crafts and quizzes - of course everything related to star research - round off the family-friendly offering.

11:00 a.m .: Prof. Dr. Martin M. Roth , head of the Institute for Technology Development, explains the mission of the DZA in his lecture “On Good Ground” and provides insights into cutting-edge research in astrophysics.
12:00 - 12:20 : Dr. Johannes Benduhn (TU Dresden) talks about “Organic semiconductors and innovative detectors”.
2:00 p.m. - 2:20 p.m .: Stella Vješnica (DZA/ITE) takes you to the largest observatories in the world with “Windows to the Universe: The World's Greatest Observatories”.
3:00 p.m. – 3:20 p.m .: Dr.-Ing. Lars Haupt (DZA/Data Science ) provides insights into the data world of astrophysics in “Big Data from Astrophysics for the Region”.
4:00 p.m. – 4:20 p.m .: Jacqueline Mosebach (DZA/ZIT) talks about innovation and the transfer of research results into practice in her lecture “From Ideas to Solutions: The Role of ZIT”.
