We are looking for creative minds from the district of Görlitz!
Sixth tourism innovation prize is awarded
After a two-year "forced break", the sixth round of the Tourism Innovation Award in the Görlitz district will officially begin on October 16 at 2:00 p.m. "We are happy to finally be able to award the innovation prize for tourism again and look forward to exciting applications," says Maja Daniel-Rublack from the tourism cooperation of the Görlitz district.
We are looking for creative, new, outstanding, sustainable and innovative products and services that expand the tourist offer in the district of Görlitz. This can be, for example, a new service offer, a bookable product, a new event or a new orientation or expansion of an event, but also an improvement in processes in the company and much more. Applications can be submitted for the categories culture & leisure, gastronomy & accommodation as well as mobility & touristic infrastructure. Among all applicants, the most sustainable offer will be honored as a special prize for the first time.
All companies, associations and individuals who have already been able to successfully implement their ideas in the field of tourism in the last three years can apply. Cross-border projects can also take part if a partner from the district of Görlitz is involved.
The tender documents can be accessed online from December 16th. Applications can be submitted by email or USB stick up to and including January 20, 2023. After an initial review of the applications, the jury makes a pre-selection in the form of a shortlist. These ideas and offers will be presented on social media and the local press. In this way, the citizens of the district also get a comprehensive insight into the applications submitted and can cast their vote for the audience award via online voting.
The winners, the public favorite and the special "Sustainability" prize will be announced during the IHK Tourism Day on March 22, 2023. The three first-place winners selected by the jury in the respective categories can look forward to prize money and marketing support.
24 applications were submitted for the fifth Tourism Innovation Award. In the Culture & Leisure category, the Naturschutz-Tierpark Görlitz eV won with its new Kängeru facility with event toilet and playground, in the Gastronomy & Accommodation category RainKost-Obermühle with Solidarity Agriculture for gastronomy and in the Mobility & Tourist Infrastructure category the Waldeisenbahn Muskau emerged as the winner of the competition with their offer "With the clay train through the Geopark Muskau Arch". RainKost-Obermühle was even able to celebrate the audience award at the same time.
The organizers of the innovation award are the administrative district of Görlitz, the regional tourist association for the Zittau Mountains Nature Park/Upper Lusatia registered association, the regional tourist association for Neisseland and the Europastadt Görlitz-Zgorzelec GmbH. Together they want to use this ideas competition to show the tourist diversity in the district and motivate the providers to constantly realign or expand their offers.
