Great demand for excursion and holiday offers in the district of Görlitz

At the end of January, the Dresden Travel Fair presented holiday and travel destinations all over the world, but also in the immediate vicinity. At the stand of the Marketinggesellschaft Oberlausitz (MGO), the tourism cooperation of the district of Görlitz took the opportunity to inspire as many trade fair visitors as possible to take a day trip or an active holiday with us. "We were overwhelmed by the visitors," enthuses Maja Daniel-Rublack from our #tourism service point. “People were happy to finally be able to travel again and get suggestions from the exhibitors.”

Our district is definitely a coveted destination for the people of Dresden. The strong interest was palpable in our conversations. Some explore our region on a day trip. Others, on the other hand, take more time to be able to use the widest possible range of offers. "We are primarily perceived as an active region," explains Maja. “Cycling, camping and hiking are very popular there. But our unique destinations such as the city of Görlitz, the UNESCO World Heritage Muskau Park and the Oybin are also in high demand.”

With the city of Görlitz, the Muskauer Park and the Zittau Mountains, the priceless country has three strong magnets.

The travel fair in Dresden was the prelude for the tourism district marketers. At the beginning of March we will go to the International Tourist Fair in Wrocław and in mid-March we will go to Holiday World Prague in the Czech Republic. In April, our region will present itself at the book fair in Leipzig. "As outsiders, we expect a particularly intensive perception here," explains Maja. And in autumn we might go to Erfurt again for Reise & Caravan.

A lot of preparation is necessary for such a trade fair appearance. The TGG Nature Park Zittau Mountains eV, the TGG Neisseland eV and the Europastadt Görlitz/Zgorzelec GmbH put the district in its entirety in the limelight as a tourism cooperation. This requires intensive coordination processes and good logistics in order to ultimately have all materials available at the exhibition stand. "When I'm at the booth, I can enjoy it too," smiles Maja. “Only here do I have the chance to talk to travelers directly. Otherwise I only communicate with tourist information and tourist providers. It is also inspiring to see how other regions market themselves.” When comparing the regions, Maja usually finds that we are already very well positioned and need not shy away from competition with other holiday regions.
