Hallo Samreen, Du bist studierte Designerin, Managerin und Influencerin und warst für ein Studienseminar in Görlitz, hast Dich in die Stadt und den Landkreis verliebt und bist so schnell es ging aus Berlin umgezogen, "hast rübergemacht" zu uns ins schöne Unbezahlbarland. Und nun bist Du seit dem 1. September die neue Werkstudentin bei der der ENO und unterstützt die TaFo Strukturentwicklung im Social Media Team.

Also dabei, die Einwohnerinnen und Einwohner des Landkreises Görlitz auf verschiedenen Kanälen wie Facebook oder Instagram zum Dialog, zur Diskussion und zum Mitmachen beim Strukturwandelprozess einzuladen.

Bitte erzähl uns kurz, wie und warum Du nach Deutschland gekommen bist und wie Du den Landkreis Görlitz und die ENO entdeckt hast.

Hallo!  Ich bin glücklich und sehr angetan, ein Teil der ENO zu sein. Ich bin nach Deutschland gekommen, um meinen Master in Betriebswirtschaftslehre an der Europa-Universität Berlin zu machen. Ich wurde von meinem Professor Ralf Iwan, der uns für die akademische Präsentation zu Vorlesungen am See einlud, in Görlitz eingeführt. In diesem Moment verliebte ich mich in die Stadt und die Herzlichkeit der Menschen um mich herum.

Hattest du vorher schon eine Vorstellung von unserer Region?

Ehrlich gesagt hatte ich keine Ahnung von dieser Region, bis ich kam, die Stadt besuchte, und dann auch selbstständig anfing, das Unbezahlbarland selbst zu erkunden.

Du hast schon viel Berufserfahrung in den sozialen Medien, bist selbst für über 12.000 Inderinnen eine Stil-Ikone (Style-Influencerin) und Internet-Expertin, hast in Indien schon für z.B. Amazon gearbeitet. Wie kannst du das jetzt in deine tägliche Arbeit bei der ENO einbringen?

Ich möchte wirklich, dass der Landkreis Görlitz, seine Schönheit und seine Vielfalt weitaus bekannt werden. Meiner Erfahrung nach sind die Oberlausitzer sowohl heimatverbunden als auch sehr offen und international. Ich denke, das bringt die tolle Lage im Dreiländereck mit sich, die Menschen aus verschiedenen Nationen mit ganzem Herzen akzeptieren. Meine Ziele sind, dass Menschen, die in oder um Deutschland herum reisen, Görlitz zu einem ihrer Hauptreiseziele machen. Toll ist auch, wenn wir für Görlitz so werben können, dass die Menschen erkennen, dass die Zukunft in der Region liegt und neue Menschen bereit sind, aus beruflichen Gründen nach Görlitz zu ziehen. Denn wie wir alle Wissen: die Strukturentwicklung ist in vollem Gange, somit steigt der Bedarf an (internationalen) Fachkräften ständig. Und: hier kann man sich einbringen, etwas Neues nach seinen Ideen schaffen. Das ist in vielen anderen attraktiven, aber viel zu dicht bevölkerten Gegenden der Welt längst nicht mehr möglich. 

Wie würdest Du Deine ersten Eindrücke von Deiner neuen Heimat beschreiben?

Hier ist es schön, friedlich und einladend. Das sind die drei Worte, die mir in den Sinn kommen, wenn ich über meine neue Heimatstadt (Görlitz) spreche. Es gibt zwar eine Sprachbarriere, aber ich denke, das ich zügig die deutsche Sprache und dann natürlich auch die Oberlausitzer Mundart - zumindest ein wenig - erlernen werde.

Du kommst aus Punjab, einer Stadt mit über 12 Millionen Einwohnern, hast in Berlin gelebt, arbeitest jetzt in Görlitz: Fiel dir der Wechsel "schwer", vermisst du das quirlige Treiben einer Großstadt oder gibt es jetzt etwas, was du z.B. an Görlitz besonders schätzt?

Ich war noch nie ein großer Fan von Großstädten, ich lebe gerne dort, wo Ruhe herrscht und die schönen Dinge sowie die des täglichen Bedarfs vor der Haustür zu finden sind. Und ich schätze es, in einer nachbarschaftlich und fast dörflich geprägten Gemeinschaft zu leben. Schon nach ganz kurzer Zeit fühlt sich Görlitz wie ein Zuhause an. Ich freue mich, hier angekommen und ein Teil des tollen ENO-Teams sein zu können.

Hello Samreen, you are a designer, manager and influencer and were in Görlitz for a study seminar, you fell in love with the city and the district and moved as quickly as you could from Berlin, "made it over" to us in the beautiful Unbezahlbarland. Please tell us briefly how and why you came to Germany and how you discovered the district of Görlitz and ENO.

Hello! I am happy and very excited to be a part of ENO. I came to Germany to do my Master in Business Administration at the European University in Berlin. I was introduced to Görlitz by my professor Ralf Iwan, who invited us to "Lectures at the Lake" for the academic presentation. At that moment, I fell in love with the city and the warmth of the people around me.

Did you have any idea about our region beforehand?

Honestly, I had no idea about this region until I came, visited the city, and then also started exploring "Priceless Land " (Unbezahlbarland) on my own.

You already have a lot of professional experience in social media, you are a style icon (style influencer) and internet expert for over 12,000 Indian women and men yourself, and have already worked for e.g. Amazon in India. How can you now bring this into your daily work at ENO?

I really want the district of Görlitz, its beauty and its diversity to be widely known. In my experience, the people of Upper Lusatia are both close to home and very open and international. I think this is due to the great location in the border triangle -  so people from different nations are accepted wholeheartedly. My goals are that people, who are travelling in or around Germany make Görlitz one of their main travel destinations. It is also great if we can promote Görlitz in such a way that people realise that the future lies in the region and that new people are willing to move to Görlitz for professional reasons. Because as we all know, the structural development is in full swing, so the need for skilled workers is constantly increasing (please click for more information about immigration as a skilled worker/ professional/ academic). And: here you can get involved, create something new according to your ideas. This is no longer possible in many other attractive, but far too densely populated areas all over the world.

How would you describe your first impressions of your new home?

It is beautiful, peaceful and inviting here. These are the three words that come to mind when I talk about my new home town (Görlitz). There is a language barrier, but I think I will quickly learn the German language and then of course the Upper Lusatian dialect - at least a little bit.

You come from Punjab, a city with over 12 million inhabitants, lived in Berlin and now work in Görlitz: was the change difficult for you, do you miss the hustle and bustle of a big city or is there something you particularly appreciate about Görlitz?

I've never been a big fan of big cities, I like to live in a peaceful and quiet surrounding where the beautiful things and everyday necessities can be found on the doorstep. And I appreciate living in a neighbourly and almost village-like community. Even after a very short time, Görlitz feels like home. I am happy to have arrived here and to be part of the great ENO team.
