How are you all doing?

I see that by looking at my calendar. It's changing again. Just 2 or 3 months ago I was almost exclusively in virtual rooms. Teams has become the standard, it was my environment. All day. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to work in the ENO. Technically, we were able to do this even before the "home office for everyone". It was even customary to be out of the office for 2 days. I'm grateful for that because many other industries don't have this privilege. They have my respect.
Fortunately, face-to-face meetings have become more of a focus in recent days. I do feel a bit weird now and then. But completely free. A quick conversation at work is often more effective than 20 e-mails on a topic. OK. I shouldn't write so many emails. Thomas Vogel says: "uses teams".
We have to learn that again
Nevertheless, I ask myself a question today. Are appearances deceptive? As already noted, I'm in the car more often again. My employees know me with a shirt again (in the video conferences I usually wear a polo shirt from #unbezahlbarland) and the direct conversations are no longer so rigid to the key points entered in the calendar. I recently outlined my opinion on future working methods in the ENO. I like the home office or third-place model (I don't work in the office, but I don't work at home either). But not every day. Personal contact is extremely important. At the moment I have the feeling that we still have to learn. The video conferences will continue to be planned as on the assembly line. What used to be telephone appointments are now meetings in teams. And here I am the worst. "Yes, of course - I'll send you an appointment shortly" is not always well thought out. I think there are too many appointments on some days.
Quality
And if there are too many appointments, there may be injustice. Why? I want to hold every appointment with 100% attention. Why is an appointment in the morning "worth more" than one later in the day? He just isn't. That's why we need breaks - and we have to take them. One, my, recipe is to plan my home office in the future, too, in order to really get things done or to prepare for appointments. Another remedy - I take Luna to work. A dog needs structures - and thus creates those :) She distracts me during the breaks, makes me laugh and I have a perfect start to a conversation with every guest. To 100 %.
