A song for the priceless country?
Who needs that?
What is that good for?
We were confronted with these questions when we first expressed the idea of dedicating a song to Priceless Land. After all, the primary goal of the “Priceless Land” image campaign is to recruit and secure skilled workers for the Görlitz district. It's about concrete data, facts, perspectives and not about musical development! Yes, that's right, in part. Because quality of life, social cohesion, freedom for your own ideas and a sense of homeland also play a decisive role in staying here or settling here. It's all about emotions! A song is the best way to transport them. Almost every product and every company is presented in advertising with a distinctive melody in order to be able to convey a feeling in addition to the advertising message. So we also wanted to help our brand “Unbezahlbarland” get its own song.
call with resonance
In November we reported in the district journal on the current measures in the implementation of the image campaign. We also expressed our song idea. We mentioned that we would be happy about musical comrades-in-arms who would like to implement this idea with us. A few actors came forward quickly. Three of them were shortlisted. Rock, folk music or accordion orchestra? We couldn't and didn't want to decide. Whether it's rock or pop, electronic or traditional, danceable or swaying - the melodies and lyrics that inspire musicians can be as varied as the Unpayableland itself. So we decided not to look for THE song for the priceless country, but for the musical variety.
Premieres every week
In the implementation phase, the project has already gained some momentum of its own. Instead of three songs now five songs are finished. A sixth version could be finished in August. The musicians went to work with great enthusiasm. Andreas Wendler from the JugendShowOrchetser Görlitz enthused: "It has become a matter of the heart for many of us to give everything here." David Berger and Richard Schönfeld enthused in their more rock version: "There is so much to discover here, from the Neisse to the Spree. You really don't need to hide, the Lausche towers up in the south.” But we don't want to reveal much more here. There is now a premiere every week. Each song and the artists are presented separately. From September onwards, the creative residents of the district will be asked to participate in a big hands-on campaign. The present UBL songs play a central role. More on that later. Now just listen to the songs. We are excited to see which song touches people's hearts the most.
