Join my UBL trip!
Today Laura and Saskia how they became tour guides for an eventful weekend and suddenly, like the tour group, fell in love priceless country
“I came to the assignment because our colleague Ivana very enthusiastic about the ' Join my trip' . She herself had organized such a trip in her home country of North Macedonia and convinced Saskia and me to take part here in the district of Görlitz , reports Laura. With the "Join my trip" offer, locals offer unconventional guided trips through town and country, so that new experiences can be shared far away from the well-trodden routes.
Laura and Saskia received the guests in Görlitz last Thursday and first experienced a guided cellar master tour in the Landskron brewery . “It was just perfect for getting to know each other! It was super interesting and also really nice for us, as a newly formed group, to get to know the others in a relaxed atmosphere and with lots of great beer specialties,” Laura says happily.
Their guests live in Vienna, Berlin, Frankfurt and North Macedonia, but originally come from Bangladesh, Russia, Hong Kong and North Macedonia. "Well, it was really very international, really cool and, above all, we were able to polish our English all weekend and got a lot of new insights into the cultures of our guests," says Laura enthusiastically.
The next day we went to Zittau and then straight on to Oybin on the narrow-gauge railway . A highlight not only for locals, but of course for every priceless country vacationer. Valeriya from Moscow made nice videos channel after watching ;-) and of course we went to the Oybin monastery , where we strolled around in a wonderfully relaxed manner and enjoyed nature, the view and exchange and ate delicious food.
Next point: off to neighboring countries! "We continued to Liberec by narrow-gauge railway and train, which we explored on foot ourselves," says Laura.
The group had a really informal and interesting day out before the guests headed out for the nightlife which they seem to have thoroughly enjoyed. On the third day we went back to Görlitz to experience a paddling trip on the Neisse. The start was at the Kulturinsel Einsiedel , from where we paddled to Rothenburg. After a few thundery showers we were soaking wet at first, but when the sun came out again it was quite fun.
After drying off, resting and changing clothes, it was relaxed and chic again: the day-trippers visited the beautiful Miodmaliny restaurant on the Polish side of the Neisse. When the next downpour forced us from the terrace into the super cozy interior of the restaurant, the whole group was just "really happy", as Laura reports. And the food was spectacular, too: "Our guest from Hong Kong kept saying that the local food would 'mentally satisfy' her, I had never heard that before, but unfortunately forgot to ask if that was a special expression of happiness you only use it like that in Hong Kong.” she explains with a smile.
The meal continued in the morning of the next day - in the vegetarian-vegan Café Herzstück before not only the guests, but also the hosts Saskia (from Weißkeißel) and Laura (from Sauerland by choice) joined a professionally guided city tour we were able to learn a lot about the capital of our priceless country. "The fact that the Czech city guide also spoke Russian was of course `priceless` for Valeriya, our Russian in the team" - as was the detailed view of the Art Nouveau department store, which of course is known to everyone from the film "Grand Budapest Hotel". . When it was time to leave, the guests, inspired and happy from the eventful days, went up to the train station , which of course, like the priceless country and the trip in general, they found indescribably beautiful. "And we," report Saskia and Laura in unison, "found this format really great, not only to get the passion for the region blazing in our guests, but also in ourselves."
Do you sometimes have guests from outside visiting? Tell us what you like to do with you the most!
