Surprising result from the Tag24 campaign
As part of the Görlitz district's “Unbezahlbarland” image campaign, we played out a native ad via the Tag24.de portal from December 23rd, 2023 to January 2nd, 2024 in the metropolitan areas of Chemnitz and Leipzig as well as in the border areas of Poland and the Czech Republic.
The focus of the advertising campaign was to present the Görlitz district as an attractive place to work and live and to offer support to all skilled workers in the regions in the competition regions who were willing to move to find a job.
The result absolutely surprised us. 624 specific inquiries were received from skilled workers (57 from Saxony, 195 from the Czech Republic and 372 from Poland). In addition to the name and email address, the data sets also contained information about the profession learned and existing professional experience. “We didn’t expect such a large response,” says UBL project manager Ingo Goschütz.
In coordination with the district administration, we answered all inquiries received individually. For each specified occupation, our students Lukas Bumann and Julia Lehmann filtered out specific offers of vacant positions in the district that are listed at the employment agency and in the Jobs Oberlausitz portal. Within two weeks, all interested parties received a personal response with specific job vacancies in the Görlitz district.
At the same time, we informed numerous companies, the regional chambers, the district craftsmen's association and Dehoga about how many skilled workers in the respective professions who were willing to change had registered for the advertising campaign. Within two weeks, more than 50 companies had written to us and told us about their bad jobs. We then ensured direct contact between the interested parties and the companies. In the ranking of professions in demand by companies, electrical professions, construction planners and civil engineers, designers, nursing professions, IT specialists and professions from the hospitality industry are at the top.
“The advertising campaign makes it clear that, in addition to advertising for the district, the structures for contacting and supporting people when moving to our region are also important,” explains Ingo. “Arrival in the Görlitz district must therefore be an even greater focus when recruiting skilled workers in the future.” The Görlitz district is therefore planning to expand the Unbezahlbarland website into a welcome platform. Guidelines for skilled workers willing to change, new citizens, returnees and foreign skilled workers should then provide information, contacts and support offers for arriving in the Görlitz district. This project is to be implemented together with ENO as part of a skilled workers alliance project that has just been applied for.
