time out

time out

Forward, always forward - or not?

"After 10 years I'm looking for something new" - these were my words when I was allowed to take over the post of managing director of the ENO in 2005. I've been in this role for a few years now. And it's fun. Diverse, exciting, formative and of course sometimes exhausting. One thing is certain - there is no planability in the ENO. But they also exist - the moments when the pulse can be heard too fast in the ear, the fingers have to hold on to something and the coffee is the wrong drink to calm down.

Get out, then I have to get out

And in such moments I find my balance in nature. Preferably with the whole family. Here is a picture of the weekend destination: the Quitzdorf reservoir. Between a slippery path and still hard snow under the soles, we walked along the shore. The fresh air always drives away the fog around my soul, the bad thoughts. Standing on the shore, I could fully enjoy the moment.

It is precisely these daily minutes that are so enormously important to me. To keep track, not to get caught up in a topic, like in a cage. Then the fingers type the texts on the keyboard much faster again.

New ideas very often come from precisely these situations. I never learned to create "ideas at the push of a button". Much to the dismay of my co-workers, very often calls come in after the walks with new suggestions. Sometimes there is one that we then follow up on... And there are so many worthwhile destinations in the district :)
