Hello!

The expansion of the broadband internet has been completed in Rosenbach. On schedule. This completes another section in the Löbau/Rosenbach area. Mayor Roland Höhne, District Administrator Bernd Lange and Economics Minister Martin Dulig gave the go-ahead for the turbo internet in Rosenbach and further expansion last week. 116 Households can now access the Internet with download speeds of at least 100 Mbit per second, businesses even much faster: they have 1,000 Mbit per second at their disposal.

District Administrator Bernd Lange explained the first commissioning of the high-speed network: "I am pleased that we have reached the next milestone with the connection here in the municipality of Rosenbach and that many other users in the district will be connected to an efficient data highway in the future. Our goal is to be able to offer citizens and companies, especially our schools as well as the social institutions and hospitals in our district, fast Internet." This important building block for the municipal infrastructure is also a decisive location factor for our cities and communities, Lange continued, It may "just" feel like fast internet, but at the same time it's also a good deal of structural development.

Extensive preliminary work

Even if some might think that fast internet just comes from the socket, extensive work is necessary in advance so that the home office and live streaming, as is now the case in Rosenbach, also works without any problems. First of all, the construction of the network is costly and labour-intensive: almost 1.5 million euros were invested, with federal, state and district funding.

Then the spades could be unpacked: In 2019, SachsenEnergie was awarded the contract for the expansion of the fiber optic network for the regions of Bertsdorf-Hörnitz, Hainewalde, Leutersdorf, Mittelherwigsdorf, Olbersdorf, Oybin, Zittau, Schönau-Berzdorf, Bernstadt, Reichenbach, Vierkirchen, Rosenbach, Löbau, Quitzdorf, Hohendubrau, Mücka and Waldhufen received. The district of Görlitz explains the goal: a total of 3,694 households and 31 schools will be connected to high-speed Internet. Around 450 kilometers of underground construction are still required before everyone can surf the web "out of the socket" at lightning speed. But even if that sounds like a lot of work, we are already making great strides:

Because Minister Dulig brought another decision on funding for broadband expansion. SachsenEnergie can therefore already start the new planning phase at the beginning of October: the next step will be the high-speed network in Beiersdorf, Ebersbach-Neugersdorf, Großschönau, Großschweidnitz, Herrnhut, Jonsdorf, Kottmar, Lawalde, Oderwitz and Ostritz.

District Administrator Lange thanked for the support and was confident "that we will soon have opened up the remaining gray areas."

Best regards!
