Next stop: Lausitzcluster Mobility!  

It was an exciting day. My personally long-cherished dream since the "Growth, Structural Change and Employment" commission determined Lausitzcluster Mobility - LCM 2018

Together with the district of Görlitz and a consortium, we will implement a digital test field with a focus on mobility in rural areas and a testing room for technology development, new offers and climate-neutral technologies!

Because: Mobility is regional development - regional development is structural change !

We were allowed to discuss this topic - Dr. Steffen Kutter , Head of the Automated Driving Department at the TU Dresden, Christoph Scholze and I - with the support of the Lausitzer MdL Dr. Meyer in the Saxon State Parliament to Minister of State Schmidt and the Lusatia Commissioner for Structural Development, Jörg Huntemann .

It was a very good and productive appointment, where we were able to present the potential of the region and the ideas. We are particularly pleased about the positive response and the benevolent promise of broad support in the further development and implementation of our cluster project. We would like to thank the Saxon State Ministry for Regional Development for the support in the district of Görlitz - this is how structural change works!

There is still a lot to do now! We get to work with this first milestone and develop the next steps with the network partners in Upper Lusatia. We will inform you about this soon!  

So much for the good news. But again exactly: what is it about?

For example, the question of whether mobility isn't the actual hidden champion in structural change.

Isn't the accessibility of municipalities and the availability of sustainable and needs-based offers an elementary factor in the decision-making process for the attractiveness of a municipality and thus also for the settlement of companies? a Hydrogen Lab Görlitz other interested start-ups to the region? And don't cluster activities form the nucleus for innovation and transformation?

In Upper Lusatia, there are many individual projects from logistics to public transport, which often focus on one technology or one mode of transport. And that's perfectly fine. That's what experts are there for.

With LCM, we will form this cross-technology and cross-modal bridge, think of the overall REGION system and draw synergy effects for the mobility of the future in Lusatia - with blueprints, new technologies and exciting projects.

This creates an offer that makes our region attractive for the further settlement of companies and start-ups. An example of a similar key project in the LCM is WALEMObase . WALEMO stands for hydrogen, lightweight construction and autonomous mobility in rural areas. Here the strengths of the region are used to develop new solutions. We use lightweight construction as a core competence and create hydrogen-based, needs-based, small-scale transport offers - automated and in rural areas!

We're going to get started now. Substantiate our timetable and, together with our partners in Saxony, create offers to make our region more attractive.
