"Land of Culture 2022 - Saxony as a Stage"
Almost a million for the district - and a little time pressure please!
Hello!
The message "Cultural Land 2022 - Saxony as a stage - Görlitz district receives almost a million for culture" was certainly noticed by many.
Anyone who has wondered "yikes, so much money for us, just like that?", the background to this "just like that", which the public perceives as easy-going, should be explained - of course by our culture and tourism expert Lars Semrock from the ENO municipal team.
"I still remember the date exactly - because from the moment we are informed about new funding guidelines with a deadline, adrenaline shoots into our blood, our eyes widen and a countdown begins in our heads - from the last day of the possible submission until the current date.
On May 6th, 22, we received the notification from the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony that they received 5.7 million euros from the State Ministry for Culture and Tourism for the new program 'Cultural Land 2022. Saxony as a Stage.' received to support Saxon municipalities in creating new events.
This funding guideline is based on the funds made available from the special fund 'Corona Management Fund Saxony' for art and culture projects by municipalities in the Free State of Saxony. Deadline: 31.05. Lightning thought: 'Sporty!'
In my position (and with my nature) you can't do anything other than: 'We all have to take part!' call out and take a deep breath to study the funding guidelines carefully. My level-headed but no less enthusiastic colleague Saskia Brosius and I threw ourselves into the work.
After reading the call for funding and the guidelines, our ENO team and the municipalities had just under four weeks to qualify the funding applications. We actively wrote to and informed all 53 municipalities in the district of Görlitz. 15 municipalities contacted me with questions about the process, the content of the application... I then coordinated these with the KdFS and gave the project sponsors feedback.
We had set ourselves the internal goal of placing ten applications from the district and were hoping for five funding commitments.
After we actively participated in the design and conception of four applications and hoped to be accepted, we were actually overwhelmed by the success:
The district with the highest number of applications in Saxony (all municipalities in the Free State were eligible to apply) was the district of Görlitz with 17 funding commitments. WhoopWhoop...that was a surprising and outstanding success. The official report on this: "Most of the funded projects come from the districts of Görlitz (17), Mittelsachsen (10) and the Erzgebirge district (10). The respective funding amounts range from 10,000 euros for smaller projects to 600,000 euros for large-scale event concepts in the urban districts, in which several hundred art and cultural actors are involved."
At the end of June the time had come: we had the honor and real pleasure of surprising all the municipalities we advised with positive news. We are delighted that the cultural industry is finally getting the attention it deserves after a two-year break that threatened its very existence.
We are looking forward to great events this summer!"
If you don't want to miss anything, it's best to leave a "Like" on the district's Facebook channel and you'll always be well informed about everything that's "going on" in Priceless Land .
Best regards!
Your Lars & Jasna
