On June 14, the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Building, Klara Geywitz, Day of the Regions” in Cottbus. The new event format is intended to
Strengthen public perception of spatial planning and regional policy and promote the networking of regions. So our managing director, Sven Mimus , and our task force team leader Heike Schleussner were of course part of the party! Heike attended some lectures and brought her expertise as a transport economist to the "Day of the Regions" - she presented the Lausitzcluster Mobility and had interesting discussions about it. There was also a committed exchange with the BBSR , the SMR
Our district was represented with a booth and lectures on these days and shows that "innovation and networking also takes place in structurally weak regions in order to create solutions for citizens" as Sandy Marschke from the district office, department for structural development, economic development and international relations it described. Together with her, we are particularly pleased that the city of Weißwasser/OL was awarded one of the 5 innovation prizes "Join in, do together: We are shaping structural change in our regions" LernLAB - Coworking and Colearning Space Weißwasser Congratulations!
For Sandy Marschke and Heike Schleussner, it was very important that networking, especially with ministries, at state planning and federal level, but also with players in regional development, research and other initiatives and districts that actively develop their region, at the event, was effortless was made possible. Sven Minus also liked to visit the "Day of the Regions" - where he of course spoke about our beautiful priceless country on a podium.
"After a lecture by Antje Klose on the district of Görlitz, I had the pleasure of taking part in a panel discussion on the subject of structural change," he describes his commitment. He was also joined by Prof. Ragnitz , Director of the ifo Institute for Economic Research, and Nicola Brandt , Head of the OECD Berlin Centre, asked to comment on topics such as digitization and the comparison to the Ems region positively to the light with sobriety about existing facts, but also with foresight, courage and optimism for what was being started to set." Sven Mimus explained.
ENO Managing Director Mimus attaches great importance to the fact that what was said on the podium also resonated: "The discussions that followed showed me that it is extremely important that we show our faces at such conferences with a clear profile and good arguments. Both Mrs. Brand, as well as Mr. Ragnitz and Mr. Maretzke (our moderator) I have of course invited to visit the district of Görlitz directly - and not just to deal with us on the basis of cold numbers." We still know when - if - these visitors will come No. But one thing is clear: as always, we will keep you up to date!
Our "Priceless Country Ambassadors" Sandy Marschke (on the photo at our stand), Sven Mimus and Heike Schleussner are certain: the trip to Cottbus was worth it.
Best regards!

PS: Federal Building Minister Klara Geywitz (SPD) said in Cottbus that the enthusiasm for structural change has so far failed to materialize because the word "structural change" is too cumbersome. Too technocratic, not very suitable for campaigns and not enough identity-forming. "We need a term that conveys this in a positive way," said the Federal Building Minister during her appearance. Perhaps we were thinking in a similar direction more than two years ago when we in the task force took up the cause of "joint development of structures with many interesting formats for citizen participation, together with local authorities, communities and mayors"? Discuss with! Is it the term? Or are you one of those who have been observing the development on a small scale for a long time and also like the projects that are now being launched?
