Next stop: Lausitz stop - mobility 2.0 for country bumpkins!
How mobile can it be? On April 4, 2023, representatives of the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz , mayors of the region, various providers of mobility services, planners and representatives of the Saxon ministries came together to get a further step closer to answering this question. In concrete terms, the participants had to discuss the design of an attractive, efficient and innovative transport system.
Heike Schleussner , head of the Lausitz Cluster Mobility , successfully moderated the event and gave those present a comprehensive insight into the module catalog of the "Lausitz-Haltestelle" at the beginning. The project idea was also played through on the basis of the first pilot municipalities. When the mayor of the Neißeaue municipality, Per Wiesner , presented his ambitious goals for the Lausitz stop with the redesign of the turning loop in Zodel, he also gave some local representatives new ideas with his presentation.
The focus of the event was on the implementation of the Lausitz stop, for which Steffi Dreier (ENO) presented current best practices for the implementation of mobility stations and current funding programs at EU, federal and state level. Now it's time to decide on the right one and to find the right partners. Among other things, there was the opportunity to exchange ideas more intensively afterwards in the various working groups. After Jens Kunstmann as a representative of the city of Görlitz, using the example of the model bus stop in Görlitz, to sensitize the participants to the issue of accessibility and to present three exciting providers - MietOn GmbH,
The second focus of the event was supported by representatives of DB Service&Station AG . In addition to presenting the Bike+Ride Offensive funding guideline, the working groups then worked on equipping the train stations and stops along the Niesky and Uhyst main roads. The discussion that followed showed that municipalities often face the same hurdles that we can overcome more successfully with a joint strategy.
Overall, the event was a great success. The participants showed a strong awareness of the need to increase the attractiveness of local public transport in the region. The discussions and presentations prove that there are many ideas and solutions to improve mobility in the region. already on the right track with the “Lausitz stop” Now it is time to reach the next stop with the results obtained and to get into concrete implementation. A small outlook: the positive response encouraged us to think about compiling a guideline for the development of mobility and local supply stations. We will keep you up to date.
