Hello!
Today we report on the 3rd Lausitz Café, which our innovation team organized UBL Lounge in Görlitz The topic of the 3rd Lausitz Café, in which we discuss selected key topics of structural change,
was nothing less than energy: "ENERGY TRANSITION - the cause lies in the future".
Our three hosts Lisa , Philipp and Uwe , were well prepared to shed light on and discuss with the numerous citizens who had come many different facets of this complex topic, which is of particular importance for our region. Coincidentally, a large part of the LEAG works council was in Görlitz and visited - and enriched! - our 3rd Lausitz Café, so that we can look back on this successful event, really impressed by the general gain in knowledge. After an informative impulse lecture by Lisa Bergmann, who summarized the topic of energy transition and new energies, the participants went to the three different tables, where the guests exchanged views on different focal points of the topic. The "hosts", i.e. hosts at each table, collected the ideas of the participants, put them up for discussion and took up questions.

André Kleinfeld , an articulate LEAG works councillor, who is already known from other media , had already thought a lot about various aspects of the energy transition with his team and, like the other works councilors and the numerous other guests, got involved in the discussion . "Of course we have to think about how we can really change something with and after the coal phase-out, and that has to be a transparent process," he explained, and eagerly took part in the discussion. It was remarkable how he and his colleagues always managed to close small gaps in the knowledge of the other participants with simple words. had marveled at Boxberg power plant on our company outing the week before
André Kleinfeld was also happy to exchange ideas with many citizens and with us: "I saw you during your LEAG visit, I thought it was great how interested you were in taking part," he explained at the beginning, and that he was "right and important" that we would go into the discussion together. Then:
As our ENO Managing Director, Sven Mimus , emphasized at the opening of the 3rd Lausitz Café, it is still important to find good solutions that are acceptable for everyone until the coal phase-out in 2038. "We are ready to change, to reconcile ourselves, to reorient ourselves - but please do not circulate any more new data on the final exit," André Kleinfeld wished accordingly for himself and the several hundred colleagues for whom he speaks as the works council may. The coal phase-out law was created in a compromise with politicians, and it is now clear to everyone that hydrogen and renewable energies will be the way. However, he emphasized, the technology research in the direction of hydrogen (we from the ENO are also involved - please register here for our 3rd hydrogen forum on June 27th !) must go further so that the security of the energy supply is given later. "Everything that moves the discussion in the direction of an earlier phase-out of coal makes the entire process more difficult," after all, many dedicated plans for socially responsible downsizing have been developed. But really quickly out of the coal? That can't work yet! Because: "It must not be forgotten", emphasized Andre Kleinfeld, that "one cannot cover the demand for electricity with only sun and wind".
The two hours set aside for the participation format flew by - the discussions were so interesting. Not only Kleinfeld works council, but also the other works councils and guests exchanged ideas at the tables of Lisa, Philipp and Uwe so intensively that everyone with a larger overview of the various facets of the energy transition and the opportunities and challenges that not only Boxberg, our district and Lusatia, but our country and the whole of Europe, went home. The hosts summarize the input of everyone present - we will inform you here as soon as the results are available!
The upcoming Lausitz Café, to which we will be talking on August 8th. invite again has the exciting topic "living environment", of course, is again aimed at all citizens of the district of Görlitz and is free of charge. We look forward to your registration !
