A joint project for sustainable mobility in Lusatia: the “Lausitz stop” guide

When we think of bus stops in the country, we probably think of abandoned bus shelters marked by graffiti. But what if stops in rural areas can be more? They can become real mobility hotspots - and that is exactly the goal of the "Lausitz stop".

This innovative form of a stop should be understood as a mobility, local supply and meeting point in rural areas in order to develop public transport more sustainably independently of the existing offer and to make it more attractive for all user groups.

This is the vision of the partners of the Lausitzcluster Mobility - a specialist network of and with regional actors from municipal administration and the mobility industry. Together they developed the “Lausitz stop” project joint workshops and events A guide for municipalities has now been created , which on the one hand contains the results obtained and on the other hand serves as a basis for the necessary steps towards the implementation of the "Lausitz stop".

The "Lausitz stop" project is more than just a mobility station. It is an example of successful cooperation in the Lausitzcluster Mobility, which aims to make mobility in rural areas fit for the future. The topics of mobility and transport infrastructure are regarded as essential factors for a successful process of structural change in Lusatia. Because mobility is more than just transporting people. Rather, it is an economic engine and the cornerstone of healthy regional development.  

the guide offers municipalities a valuable guide to sustainably improve mobility in the region. With this project and the support of the network, Lusatia is not only becoming mobile, but also stronger and more attractive.
