New to ENO: Samreen Singh from Punjab, India

 (English version below)

Hello Samreen, you are a studied designer, manager and influencer and were in Görlitz for a study seminar, fell in love with the city and the district and moved from Berlin as quickly as possible and "moved over" to us in the beautiful Unzahlbarland. And now you have been the new working student at ENO since September 1st and support the TaFo structural development in the social media team.

In other words, we are inviting the residents of the Görlitz district to engage in dialogue, discussion and participation Facebook or Instagram .

Please tell us briefly how and why you came to Germany and how you discovered the Görlitz district and the ENO.

Hello! I am happy and very excited to be part of ENO. I came to Germany to do my master's degree in business administration at the European University of Berlin. I was introduced to Görlitz by my professor Ralf Iwan , who invited us to lectures at the lake for the academic presentation. At that moment I fell in love with the city and the warmth of the people around me.

With over 12,000 followers, you always have an eye on the fan comments on the right: a collage of Samreen's postings on Instagram from Görlitz

Did you already have an idea of our region beforehand?

To be honest, I had no idea about this region until I came, visited the city, and then started exploring Priceless Land

You already have a lot of professional experience in social media, you are a style icon (style influencer) and internet expert for over 12,000 Indian women, and you have already worked in India for Amazon, for example. How can you incorporate this into your daily work at ENO?

I really want the Görlitz district, its beauty and its diversity to become widely known. In my experience, the people of Upper Lusatia are both close to their homeland and very open and international. I think this is due to the great location in the border triangle, which people from different nations accept wholeheartedly. My goals are that people traveling in or around Germany make Görlitz one of their main travel destinations. It's also great if we can advertise Görlitz in such a way that people realize that the future lies in the region and that new people are willing to move to Görlitz for professional reasons. Because as we all know: structural development is in full swing, so the need for (international) skilled workers constantly increasing. And: here you can get involved and create something new according to your ideas. This is no longer possible in many other attractive but far too densely populated areas of the world.

How would you describe your first impressions of your new home?

It is beautiful, peaceful and inviting here. These are the three words that come to mind when I talk about my new hometown (Görlitz). There is a language barrier, but I think that I will quickly learn the German language and then of course the Upper Lusatian dialect - at least a little.

You come from Punjab , a city with over 12 million inhabitants, lived in Berlin, now work in Görlitz: Was the change “difficult” for you? Do you miss the lively hustle and bustle of a big city or is there something you particularly like about Görlitz, for example appreciates?

I have never been a big fan of big cities, I like living where there is peace and quiet and where beautiful things and everyday needs can be found on the doorstep. And I appreciate living in a neighborly and almost village-like community. After a very short time, Görlitz feels like home. I am happy to have arrived here and to be part of the great ENO team.

And we are happy that you found your way to us, dear Samreen!
