H2 mobility is on the rise

A large number of the most important players from the areas of energy and mobility met at the ENO's invitation at the beginning of the week to exchange ideas on approaches to realizing H2 mobility in the region.

“Business models, approaches and concepts are tangible” - ENO invited people to the 2nd H2 mobility working group on the Siemens Energy Campus .

“We now have everything in hand hydrogen technology Heike Schleussner , transport economist, project developer and manager at ENO. "Together with logistics, forwarding, transport and waste disposal companies, we are already in the process of creating the foundations for the infrastructure that we will need in the Görlitz district in 5-10 years. I am pleased that so many players are already working with us pull together,” she continued, “and shed light on all facets of how we create the infrastructure.”

At the beginning, expert Schleussner informed the more than 30 participants about the opportunities and potential of the H2 region of Görlitz. It continued with expert lectures on the important topic of climate-neutral freight transport and the status of hydrogen filling station technology, with specific information being provided about investment and operation as well as H2 projects in the region based on the Reichenbach/OL country town concept .

"This rethinking of transport with hydrogen that is as green is also groundbreaking and important for the Görlitz district," explains Heike Schleussner, because it is important to achieve "emission-free mobility in many sectors from renewable energies." to establish. are well on the way to the mobility of the future within the framework of the Oberlausitz 2030+ mobility vision with our information and networking events are.".

The structural change in the wake of the coal phase-out offers great opportunities, especially in the Görlitz district as a traditional energy region, as Gerd Weiß, PtX/Hydrogen project manager at LEAG , explained, which is why it is important to "bring all players to the table at an early stage at such events". Ilka Hunger from public transport supply planning at ZVON agreed: "It's great how this event presents the large portfolio of all the perspectives that need to be taken into account when it comes to the mobility issue of hydrogen. These 'H2 working groups', this networking, and how The fact that theory is being put into practice here is remarkable and it must continue like this." she confirmed.

On a test drive with an emission-free, hydrogen-powered truck "Bluepower 2738" from the Enginius GmbH Faun Group, the participants of the 2nd working group were able to see for themselves the tangible vision of silent waste transport.

Why is the topic of “hydrogen mobility” important?

In view of advancing climate change and political measures to switch to alternative drives, fuel cell drives are becoming increasingly attractive both ecologically and economically.

Green hydrogen from renewable energies enables emission-free mobility in many sectors. Fuel cell vehicles have their greatest application potential, particularly over long distances with high mileage and high requirements for short refueling times. The development of a comprehensive hydrogen infrastructure with stationary filling stations for road, heavy goods and logistics traffic is making great strides. The Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland GmbH is conducting the joint study “Hydrogen Network Central Germany 2.0” in cooperation with HYPOS eV, DBI Gas- und Umwelttechnik GmbH and INFRACON Infrastructure Service GmbH & Co. KG. As part of the DurcH2breathen network, ENO is involved in the study as a regional multiplier in order to make local hydrogen needs visible and to be able to initiate preparatory steps to build a hydrogen infrastructure.

Against this background, several networking meetings with regional companies, project developers and economic developers will take place in the Görlitz district in September 2023. The aim of the event series is to present the current activities and potential in the hydrogen economy and to also talk about the required quantities. The first regional workshop took place on Friday, September 8th, 2023, in the Unbezahlbarland Lounge in Görlitz. The ENO presented the ongoing study and referred to the overall energy concept for the Görlitz district, where the use and production of hydrogen was also discussed. The participants agreed: The more hydrogen needs are reported, the more likely a hydrogen network will be in the Görlitz district as well as a connection to Germany- and Europe-wide pipelines. This allows the region to secure important locational advantages and gain further support. Even after the study has been completed, ENO continues to record all hydrogen requirements: This email address is being protected from spam bots! To display JavaScript must be turned on. on.

Together with the participating companies, ENO is preparing for the rapid development of a sustainable hydrogen mobility infrastructure in the district on behalf of the Görlitz district. We would like to thank our partners for their active participation and commitment:
