First regional workshop on the topic of “Hydrogen network and requirements in the Görlitz district”
Together with the companies of the LK Görlitz on green energy
The Metropolregion Mitteldeutschland GmbH the joint study “ Hydrogen Network Central Germany 2.0 in cooperation with HYPOS eV , DBI Gas- und Umwelttechnik GmbH and INFRACON Infrastructure Service GmbH & Co. KG . DurcH2breathen network ENO is involved in the study as a regional multiplier in order to make local hydrogen needs visible and to be able to initiate preparatory steps to build a hydrogen infrastructure.
Against this background, several networking meetings with regional companies, project developers and economic developers will take place in the Görlitz district in September 2023. The aim of the event series is to present the current activities and potential in the hydrogen economy and to also talk about the required quantities.
The first regional workshop took place on Friday, September 8th, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Unbezahlbarland Lounge in Görlitz. In his presentation, Per Wiesner (ENO) not only presented the ongoing study, but also referred to the overall energy concept for the Görlitz district, where the use and production of hydrogen was also discussed. The event also provided space for the exchange of experiences and constructive discussions. The participants agreed on one point: the more hydrogen needs are reported, the more likely it is that there will be a hydrogen network in the Görlitz district and a connection to pipelines across Germany and Europe. This allows the region to secure important locational advantages and gain further (political) support.
Sven Sellig - Head of Infrastructure Technology at Görlitzer Verkehrsbetriebe ( GVB ) - makes it clear that the path to the energy transition does not lead past hydrogen:
“For us, hydrogen is an energy source of the future. A discussion on the topic of energy transition without hydrogen is not a discussion. Climate neutrality can only be achieved with an energy mix of several energy sources. The use of this technology will bring us much closer to the goal of a climate-neutral city of Görlitz.”
Further networking meetings will take place on September 18th. in Kodersdorf, on September 19th. in Löbau and on September 20th. in Weißwasser under the leadership of ENO.
