"Good signals right at the edge of the opencast mine..."

Successful structural development. The municipality of Schleife/Slepo has a lot planned. We spoke to the mayor about the ambitious plans that are already within reach. And Kodersdorf and Waldhufen are happy about a big check.

"The traffic lights are getting greener for our big project, the health center ," says Jörg Funda, the mayor of Schleife/Slepo ( we reported ). Out of love and passion for his homeland , he is committed to his community and also his fellow campaigners on the local council are fully committed to the matter for precisely these reasons. They have to be, because: planning a health center, taking into account all requirements, conditions and challenges is - "not without", as Mr. Funda comments. "You have to say: it "It's all very demanding...but we're doing it with full energy," he says happily on this brightly beautiful, bitterly cold winter day shortly after the first local council meeting of 2024.

He opened the new year in a loop with clear goals. The community's main project is the construction of the health center as a crucial step in structural change . Negotiations are currently underway for various lot contracts, including architectural services, heating, ventilation, plumbing and electrical services. The planning should be completed by the end of the year.

"The traffic lights are getting greener..." says BM Jörg Funda - after District Administrator Dr. Stephan Meyer and Dr. Romy Reinisch, among others, as members of the monitoring committee, gave their green signals for various beautiful projects in Schleife (and of course in the entire Görlitz district).

Further construction projects

In addition to the health center, other construction projects are planned, including the new construction of the fire station , the connection point for local public transport and a swimming pool as a replacement at the Mühlrose resettlement site . LEAG is building the swimming pool as agreed in the Mühlrose contract - it should be in use this summer. The entire resettlement of Mühlrose is scheduled to be completed in 2024. also being made on the replacement construction of the “Milenka” daycare center . In addition, the municipality is striving for intensive cooperation with Trebendorf in order to advance the framework planning for tourism on Lake Halbendorf . Jörg Funda emphasized to his colleagues the need for intensive cooperation within the community and with neighboring towns and was not only (as always) fully motivated, but also full of praise. Specifically: he described the cooperation with the mayors of neighboring towns as “high quality”.

SKZ, SV Lok Loop, ecological power plant

He also emphasized the importance of making the Sorbian Cultural Center (SKC) ( where the popular Lausitz Café citizen participation format is taking place on Friday, February 2nd - here to register! ) fit for the future. The development of the SV Lok Schleife and the energy orientation of the community, including the planned ecological power plant (ÖKW) , are also planned for 2024.

“Being able to set such signals right at the edge of the opencast mine is a great thing,” he explains. You can see his joy. "And of course it is particularly nice to be able to see the fruits of the work almost growing after years of planning ( the UBL blog reported ). "And - one more thing is very important to me: I would like to thank the ENO and, above all, your super-committed project manager Uwe Garack from the bottom of my heart! Without you - and him - we would never have managed all of this."

If you would like to be personally motivated by Jörg Funda, you can get to know him briefly, as well as our dedicated innovation managers Saskia Brosius and Wilhelmine Buscha , in the SKC at the Lausitz Café . "But I can't stay there that long, it's my wife's birthday on that very day, and as much as I care about structural development and citizen participation ... I don't want my key to no longer fit in the lock in the evening," he explains with a smile.

 Well positioned: Kodersdorf

Kodersdorf - expansion, expansion and 300 new jobs and training positions

Kodersdorf & Waldhufen also started the new year well. This Friday they will receive 470,000 euros from Dresden - delivered by check from State Secretary Barbara Meyer personally. The money is part of an overall package to secure expansion projects The monitoring committee for the coal phase-out funds approved these funds in November 2022. The total costs for the drinking water supply amount to 7.2 million euros.

In addition, Waldhufen was promised 1.4 million euros for the expansion of Jänkendorf's "Schulstrasse" industrial area - the money will be used to finance the construction of an access road and supply lines. This strengthens the structure: The commercial area expansions are intended to create around 300 new jobs and training positions.

Best regards!
