Hello and a happy and healthy New Year to all our Unbezahlbarland blog readers!
Saskia BrosiusSaskia Brosius and Wilhelmine Buscha explain why you should definitely follow our invitations to the Lausitz Cafés (again) in 2024.
The Lausitz Cafés is the most popular citizen participation format of the Structural Change Task Force, which at ENO is intensively involved in the development of the Görlitz district. The most popular? Yes! Because we notice this in the popularity of the (regular) guests: in their response and, above all, in the creative input that arises in dialogue with guests, invited experts and the creators Saskia Brosius, Wilhelmine Buscha and Ivana Petrovska.
At the six Lausitz Cafés last year, we noticed: the format was popular! That's why there's a great innovation this year: the Lausitz Cafe is touring through Unezahlbarland - more on that below - directly from the creators.
For those who are not yet familiar with this citizen participation format: The Lausitz Café is an entertaining series of events that occurs every two months, in which the ENO innovation team , experts, and citizens discuss selected key topics of structural change. This means that each of the Lausitz Cafés can have a different theme or cover several topics.
The Lausitz Café is also an entertaining and educational, popular must-attend event for our team: Innovation team project manager Saskia Brosius, team leader Heike Schleussner, municipal team project manager Uwe Garack and municipal team project manager Laura Horst (clockwise from top left)
A regular guest describes the Lausitz Café with the words that he has "no time to get involved politically in the city council or local politics in addition to his job and family," but that the crisp, entertaining format of the "LC" meets his needs exactly Citizen participation fulfills . Because: there is always the technical "input" at the beginning, i.e. all guests are informed about the respective topic through a comprehensive, exciting presentation and sent to the various round tables with interesting questions. You can imagine it like this: On the topic of "tourism" we first heard figures, data and facts about tourism in Saxony, Upper Lusatia and the Görlitz district, before we were asked about our experiences as a "tourist" in our own district. Which excursion destination did we like in the past and why do we like it? no longer, where do you like to go with your children for local recreation? Can we find suggestions together to make these excursion destinations really attractive again for us here in the Görlitz district, but also for visitors? To think up new things, keep what you love and improve it in a modern way?
The Lausitz Café (like so many regular guests) no longer wants to be without: Innovation team project manager Wilhelmine Buscha
We at the UBL blog met with Saskia and Wilhelmine to ask the most important questions about the new format. Read the answers here!
You started the format last year in Görlitz in the UnbezahlbarLounge , now it takes place at various locations in the Görlitz district. So really citizen-oriented participation, even for those who can't or don't want to travel through the district to Görlitz for an evening - a great idea.
Can you reveal what the topic will be on February 2nd? will be in loop?
Saskia & Wilhelmine (S & W): We plan to discuss various topics at the Lausitz Café in Schleife. We also hope for support from external parties who are active on site and can suggest topics. When developing the discussion topics, we will focus on the areas of living environment, energy and mobility. It is not yet clear what the weighting will look like this time. We would also like to discuss a topic at all venues and then bring the results together.
Can you already name further dates and locations as well as topics for the other Lausitz cafés?
S & W: Yes, we have already drawn up a plan for the whole year, but we still have to finalize it. However, we are aiming for the following dates, which you can make a note of:
02.02. from 6 p.m. in Schleife in the SKC - you can register directly here !
09.04. from 6 p.m. possible. in Ostritz / Ebersbach-Neugersdorf
09.09. from 6 p.m. possible. in Görlitz
10.10 from 6 p.m. possible. in Rietschen
12.12. from 6 p.m. possible. in Zittau
Citizen participation in Unaffordable Land is not only informative and educational - it can also be really exciting!
You always put a lot of time, effort and love into the preparation and follow-up of the Lausitz Cafés.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
S & W: The inspiration comes primarily from discussions with local actors, for example when we providing funding advice or project development (here is everything about our SPEED format for systematic project development). Of course, we are also inspired by the current developments in the district , which show us the direction.
What happens to the findings, suggestions and results from the events?
S & W: We strive for the discussion topics to always be very specific so that the input that comes from the guests can be used effectively. All discussion results will be digitized and sent to the participants or made available Miro board ( a website similar to a digital pinboard In addition, it is noted in the review which of the ideas will be further developed and how they will be implemented or into which projects they will be incorporated. It is a great success if 2-3 insights from each discussion can be used further.
Thank you for the interview! See you - in a loop, and - of course, delicious food is provided as always, so that no one has to discuss things while hungry.
Best regards!
Your Jasna
