Joy in Unzahlbarland - and especially in Kodersdorf! Now 141,050 euros are coming to the district from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport for the “LaHaKo” Lausitz stop.
"We are very pleased that our application for the ' Lausitz stop in Kodersdorf ' was approved and thus marks Görlitz district, Heike Schleussner , traffic expert and team leader at ENO . The mobility project “Lausitz-Haltestelle in Kodersdorf” (LaHaKo), which she was in charge of designing and submitted at the end of 2023, has received funding of 141,050 euros Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport
René Schöne, Mayor of Kodersdorf also pleased: “After intensive preparation, we are very happy to have launched the interesting and future-oriented mobility project together with ENO. Now it's time to implement the project by the end of 2025 so that our residents can effectively use the added value of such a modern stop, which will hopefully set an example for other stops in our region and thus contribute to smart digital networking," he explains .
The heavily frequented stop at the Adolf Traugott von Gersdorf Oberschule in Kodersdorf will be expanded into a mobility and meeting station by the end of next year. The funding decision is intended to more closely connect the forms of mobility of public transport (public transport), cycling, e-scooter and pedestrian traffic, as well as the emerging citizen bus system in the future.
The station will be equipped with a green lounge area with a roof, seating within a barrier-free lounge area, WiFi, digital information point, covered bicycle parking, bicycle repair station, lockers including e-bike charging, e-scooter rental and other options. The information center will contain a digital information system that will provide the user with real-time information about timetables, availability of means of transport and mobility offers.
Together with strong partners
The regional special purpose association ZVON implements the digital system for networking transport offers. In Hoyerswerda, too, the implementation of the Lausitz stop is supported by the city of Hoyerswerda and the Verkehrsgesellschaft Hoyerswerda mbH. In total, of the 12 million euros originally available, around 8.2 million euros in funding were tied up for 16 projects, five of them in eastern Germany. An eighth of the total amount, around one million euros, will flow into the Lausitz station network (Kodersdorf and Hoyerswerda).

"This heartfelt project as part of our work in the Lausitz mobility network finally implements the developed concept of the Lausitz stop in rural areas." explains Heike Schleussner, “In this way we can make the mobility transition accessible to local citizens and show that it is being implemented to promote sustainable mobility. We show a concrete starting point for further developments in the mobility sector. Offers such as citizens' buses, autonomous driving or combined passenger and goods transport are to be bundled here in the future. With the help of “LaHaKo”, the use and attractiveness of public transport should be sustainably improved and strengthened through additional offers. The grant amounts to €141,050.00 with a funding rate of 65% until the end of 2025.
Outlook from Kodersdorf Mayor René Schöne
“In order to secure mobility in rural areas, other building blocks are needed in addition to the Lausitz stop. We in Kodersdorf are currently in the process of setting up a minibus for our citizens that is outside of the existing regular service, which of course cannot cover all the mobility needs in the village. We hope for financial support from the Free State and Federal Government. In collaboration with the TU Dresden, we continue to focus on the pioneering mobility project KOMBI (Kodersdorfer Mobility), in which automated transport (driving without a driver) is being tested in rural areas. I am firmly of the opinion that the mobility transition in rural areas can only succeed if we bring all the different modules together for more optimal transport. We in the municipality of Kodersdorf are ready for this!”
And the planning goes even further: the municipality of Kodersdorf is participating in the WALEMObase structural change project to promote further networking towards automated driving. The planned upgrade of the stop is intended to enable the stop infrastructure for innovative mobility offers such as automated public transport on demand or combined transport of people and (prospectively) goods. The aim is to network different forms of mobility and strengthen the environmental network.
Background: Why the whole thing - and where does the financing come from?
The Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) supports small and medium-sized communities in structurally weak regions in setting up mobility stations in order to promote climate-friendly mobility offers. A recently published call for project outlines generated great interest, with 16 projects being selected and funded across Germany. In addition to Kodersdorf, Hoyerswerda is also one of the two projects approved in Saxony. Both projects were created as part of the Lausitzcluster Mobility under the “Lausitz-Haltestelle” project. The funding amounts to around €8.2 million, which is available to the municipalities. The program is aimed at communities with a maximum of 50,000 inhabitants in structurally weak regions and supports the establishment or expansion of mobility stations that connect various transport options. The funding rate is up to 80% for financially weak municipalities, and projects can be funded until December 31, 2025.
We are pleased about the success for Kodersdorf and our Structural Change Task Force and congratulate!
Do you also have an idea or a planned project to improve the quality of life here in Unzahlbarland?
Parts of the project administration for the development of this funding call were financed as part of the German Recovery and Resilience Plan (DARP) by EU funds from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (ARF) of the “Next Generation EU” program.
