Hello!

The most important travel trade fair of the young year was coming up. We went to the Dresden “Holiday Worlds” with Emilia & Maja.

, project manager Emilia Grass and service center manager Maja Daniel-Rublack report on their field work at last weekend's travel trade fair. Emilia went to the “ Reisemesse DresdenReisemesse Dresden ” for the first time. There she stood together with Maja, who heads the Tourism Service Office (SST) at ENO, to answer questions at the stand of Upper Lusatia for the Neißeland and the tourism cooperation of the Görlitz district “It was nice to be spoken to directly by so many visitors,” reports Maja. "This travel trade fair is an important trade fair for us because short vacationers and day visitors come from Dresden and the surrounding area, who are very important for us as a destination." explains the tourism expert. The stand was organized by the Marketing-Gesellschaft Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien mbH , in which ENO-SST Tourismus is also represented. "For us, the trade fair is also nice because we have the opportunity to coordinate with the other TGGs (tourist regional communities) in Upper Lusatia - we also sit together on various committees, but we usually only have a little time to think about them exchange important things."

We asked Emilia, who accompanied Maja, how she, as a trained tourism manager, felt about her first assignment as an "ambassador" for Upper Lusatia.

"The trade fair was an impressive experience for me!" she reports. "We had so many interested guests at the stand who not only inquired about offers and activities, but who had also vacationed with us in the region and gave us praiseful feedback." says Emilia. beauty of nature particularly emphasized by everyone. But the variety of cultural offerings that you can enjoy #Unbezahlbarland

"The proximity of the 'attractions' was appreciated, which means that unique natural and cultural experiences are possible without having to travel far, as most of those interested come from the surrounding area or directly from Dresden. We heard 'the good thing is so close' often this weekend." she smiles. Many visitors would also have eagerly listed which tourist sites they have already visited in beautiful Upper Lusatia." These are particularly the Findlingspark Nochten , the Erlichthof Rietschen and Bad Muskau - they include cycling tours (including the Oder-Neiße cycle path ) and camping "The "Görlitz" stand right next to us was always well attended," she continues. Specific questions were asked primarily about accommodation options .

Always worth a trip: The Fürst Pückler Park in Bad Muskau

For the tourism manager Emilia, the contact with the guests was a very nice opportunity for exchange: older guests in particular wanted safe connections by train, for example to Bad Muskau. The magnificent Fürst Pückler Park , but also some of the region's other attractions, can currently only be reached by bus - or by train and bicycle - if you don't have a car. The concern about not being able to get everywhere comfortably and easily was expressed primarily by seniors who are "no longer as sporty" when cycling. Maja and Emilia are grateful for this feedback - and plan to think more about transport options together with their partners in order to make even remote places easily accessible and thus further increase the attractiveness of the tourist regions. However, even if the journey takes a little longer - the tourism industry in Upper Lusatia has largely overcome the Corona crisis, as can be seen from the figures from the Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia marketing company. By July 2023 alone, 412,000 guests had visited Upper Lusatia - a remarkable increase of 14.2 percent compared to the previous year.

Best regards!
